Post-Game Talk: SNES @ Wings, Thursday night 7pm

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I’m glad the Analytics department has finally managed to realise that Hammer is indeed one of the worst defenders in the NHL and he is no longer in this game.

No idea how long it’ll last but let’s rejoice.

I’m sure the analytics dept has known it for a while, ultimately its the coach that determines the lineup.

Sens have to fill the tank with 91 octane and keep the pedal to the metal for 60 minutes!
Your post reminds me of the one time NASCAR was actually exciting.

Okay.. A slow day.. So I need to throw a hand grenade in there

Travis Hamonic is a Metis

Travis Greene is from Castlegar, BC... A community that has a large native/Indigenous population.

Is it possible that coach Greene has native/indigenous connections and is being loyal to a fellow tribe member?

The Kootenay/Ktunaxa tribe may have originated from central Canada. Making them and the Metis of Manitoba from the same origins.

Coach Greene would not be the first person to help out his own.

And they also had distant common ancestors .......in Africa.

These look like the real lines. Still don't like Giroux on the top line. He can't keep up with Stu and Zetterlund and the line was clicking.

I don't mind giving this a try.

3 pretty good lines. I like trying Tkachuk with Pinto and Greig. Tkachuk will get the puck into the blue paint and Pinto and Greig provide a little more jam.
Stutzle and Z can benefit from G's IQ and playmaking and faceoff ability if not his foot speed which doesn't need to be an issue. The Cozens line stays the same and have been good. Lets see what Z does this time with the best offensive player on the team.

The pets and Amadio .. its a waste for Amadio.. He is such a good smart complimentary player that is good at turning pucks over and sustaining a cycle. With Gaudette the cycle dies pretty quick.

Hamonic :bb::hockey:

We scored just 2 goals last game. We are going to need more than that tonight.

Not sure if this was mentioned in the Ottawa/Buffalo GDT. Definitely not as popular of a subject as posts blaming the per usual scape goats.

Huge game, need to beat them in regulation and bury their playoff hopes for good. It will be a satisfying win.
Sens need the 2 points to hang on to the 1WC. Habs should beat Phile and would be 2 pts behind with a Sens loss.

The Wings are 1 game above 500 I doubt they have it in them to climb back in with their remaining schedule

I am not much more than 50/50 that the Sens pull this one off. Ullmark will play a part if they do

Okay; time for a quiz.

+/- doesn't mean what it used to but...

Here are the top 5 Sens:

1 Jensen +17
2 Chabot +12
3 xxx +11
4 Pinto +5
5 Amadio +4
(only 1 more above 0 who's no longer on the team.)

So, who is 3rd?

We definitely need the 2pts as well to maintain our WC1 spot, its a big game for both teams, the fact it will also bury their chances for good is just icing. Its a must win, and very doable. Ullmark will definitely need to pull his weight and so does everyone else, no excuses. Should be exciting tonight.

I thought the Gaudette, Cousins MacEwen line actually did pretty well on the cycle at the start of the year, not saying Gaudette was strong on the cycle, but I do think he knew how to support two guys who were crashing and banging. I don't like the makeup of our 4th right now, but maybe when Cousins is back, we'll see some of that early season Gaudette that had me eating crow for not wanting him to make the roster out of camp.

Third is the guy getting 65% OZ starts out against some of the weakest QOC, that narrows it down to 2 guesses....

I am not a Gaudette fan.. I don't like his skating speed or power, I don't like his strength or lack there of to win battles .. I don't like him in that 4C role and I don't think he is close to good enough to be in the top 9.. Every player should improve playing with better players. I like MacEwen's game when he was up. Cousins is a top tier 4th line player if he is slotted there. I think at this time of the year space and time come at a premium and you have to be able to battle for your ice..

I don't like the player in terms of his skill set for the role we have for him either, but I don't really like any other centers we have in the system since trading Ostapchuk. I suspect we're stuck with him.

MacEwen was good in a 4th line role, but Green seems to like Highmore as PK guy and out there defending, while MacEwen is really a pure energy guy who will fight. I suspect he's with the team come playoffs, but as a 13th fwd.

Cousins would be fantatic to get back. Can't wait.

Cousins x Amadio two 3rds of a quality line.

The C has to be able to compliment them.. I don't think Gaudette is the guy to do it.. As for being stuck with him ..that is not a good thing but it is a thing ..and I really think Green has a soft spot for him. I would even take Highmore over him personally . Amadio is pretty good on the draws.

We haven't hit rock bottom yet.

This will be another loss.
I hope you are wrong and that the team plays a solid game tonight. However, I don't think some of our players are consistently good at it. I also thon our coaching staff have to instill more "compete" in some of them and not accept lacklustre play. I seldom see the coaches getting into it with the players. Torts would not stand for some of the laziness on his team.

Agree. Cousins and MacEwen would be nice energy options for the 4th line. The line as its constructed now with Gaudette and Highmore are just not hard enough to play against in my opinion. Even Crookshank or Jenik would be better options. Not sure who the PK'er options left are but its not like our PK has been a strength anyways. Gaudette can resurface if there's a couple injuries to a top 6'er and goals are hard to come by.

I agree; however; we need a centre who is fast, back-checks with a lot of hustle, marks his man and hits hard (no flybys). On the 4th line we cannot expect to be able to pay a player who is also a scorer or playmaker who gets a lot of points. That is not Gaudette. I was hoping Ostapchuck would be that type. I don't think we have that type of player at this time.

I think this offseason targeting a 4th line center is priority, at least, as much of a priority as 4th liners can be...

We don't have anyone in the system, maybe we could get Bjugstad? Or bring back Tyler Motte?
