First game I ever went to as a kid. Sitting in the blue seats. Guy next to me pulled out a little tinfoil packet filled with coke. So there's always that as an option.

in the late '70's, and '80's -
between periods/halfs(Knicks) all the stairwells were occupied by folks smoking weed or consuming harder stuff.

fyi what sometimes can work to get water bottles inside
is to carry a jacket or sweatshirt, with the bottle in the sleeve
(you can twist the sleeve-end, and tuck it into sleeve, so bottle doesn't fall out

If you can afford to get to MSG, you can afford to have a proper pre-game and then sustain it with a few beers at the game. Right?

I know smuggling booze to musical festivals but games?

so I have an answer to this, since I've done it on every game ive gone to.

I buy these: Amazon.com

and fill them at home and stick them in the breast pocket of my jacket, or in my junk area of my boxerbriefs. Might buy a coke at the game and mix it, or straight flask it depending on the contents.

its way cheaper than buying nips.

Tbh just not drinking anything for a few hours seems like the most prudent thing to do.

I get the appeal of consuming while being entertained but if money is that much of an issue after spending 70+ on a ticket at the Garden I find it difficult to comprehend how one can't go about 3 hours without snacking or drinking.

Late to the party but... Fitzy gets it.

The goal is to load up before hand so that way 1-2 drinks can carry a stiff buzz through out the remainder of the game.

That was my MO for pretty much my entire life. Then the 1-2 drinks that are supposed to carry you started inching up toward $30 (x2 for the wife) and I said “we can definitely just sneak a few nip bottles in”. I used to be police. I’ve done security for big events with four star generals and governors and stuff. If it isn’t setting off the metal detector and it isn’t big enough to create an obvious weird bulge on your outfit, you can pretty much sneak anything you want anyplace you want.

If I'm going with friends, I go to Rose's in the LIRR concourse and load up on pizza and $5 32 oz domestics. Prices may be slightly higher now but definitely still a great value. Lots of Rangers fans there between 6-7pm and plenty of tables and flat screen TVs. If I'm going with my wife, we usually hit up K-Town for dinner and drinks before the game. More upscale than Rose's but still not expensive, lots of great options, and all walking distance to the Garden.

At the game, I'll usually get one drink, maybe some sweet potato fries from Kobeyaki, and a coffee from Dunkin for the third period.
