6 pts out of the playoffs but also 4 pts away from 5th last.

If the Habs sell on Savard, Armia, Dvorak only and insert younger guys on the job (again), I can easily see us slipping to 5-10 range pick. If we trade Evans for futures and insert Newhook at 3C for the rest of the season, I can almost guarantee a pick from 5-10 range.

get the 5-10 rage pick it is a must

I believe I said our pick would be 8-12 range or 10-15 range heading into this season. It's tracking that way and I remain consistent. If we sell a bit and insert some youth learning on the job to end the season, I can easily see us with the 8th pick.

I hope our youth luck continues over from last draft (Demidov and Hage slipping to us).... It's time for us to win a lottery. Devils won two of them FFS! lol

Everybody knew locking the tank thread would start a losing streak.

This thread will start a winning streak and then it will get locked.

Locking this thread will start a losing streak.

A new tank thread will then be opened...
It’s the circle of Haaaaaaabs!

Who is your pick at #1OV if Habs were to win the lottery?

Surprised this thread is still up, so here is my opinion on the matter since there is no need to sugarcoat it anymore.

This Habs team just ain’t it. Five straight losses, a complete lack of consistency even when we were winning games a couple of weeks ago, and another season heading straight for the golf course. That’s four years in a row without playoffs, and at this point, it’s hard to see when that’s going to change. We have most of our core already playing with the team, I know Demidov is the savior but I just don’t trust he can come and cover all the holes of the ship by himself. Bedard couldn’t. Celibrini can’t. Is Demidov expected to have a bigger impact than them?

Sure, they have young talent, but development alone isn’t enough. The defense is a mess, the secondary offense disappears for long stretches. Injuries haven’t helped, but even at full strength, this team is nowhere near contending. We got opportunistic with the games we came back from a deficit, add to that the Laine+Carrier adrenaline. This was cool while it lasted.

And now, they are back in limbo—too bad to make a real push, but not bad enough to fully tank.

This is just a wasted season. Enjoy your 11th pick.
It’ll be a lot lower than 11th. I think even Buffalo will catch them

I still would like to understand what the f***ing plan is and when is it supposed to get better according to the said plan? Just tell us... like 2027? 2028? If teams sells again, we'll be left with even more green rookies next season which can only mean one thing - no mix, no playoffs, another hard to watch season.

They already said that they are targeting this Summer, they said it before last Summer.

They are only selling pending UFAs who aren't gonna be part of the team next year anyway and that doesn't stop them from using that currency to trade for a fix that will be here with term.

But they've been super transparent about their timeline.

I believe our rebuild will go faster than the Wings, Sabres, and Sens but what I also believe is we are going to go through a rollercoaster ride of emotions along the way.

A few things Gorton/Hughes are probably looking at:
1) Laval run in the playoffs. Can't take away all their talent
2) Vets who the team value. Unless the offers are too good to refuse, I think some of the guys we think will move, will stay.
3) What are teams going to offer us? I'm sure they know we are after guys to fit our core between Suzuki and Demidov/Hage and we are open for business on trading some future picks for help now. Help now means guys who are still under team control

I think we are going to see either one big trade from now till the draft and maybe one UFA signing. I just don't see Gorton/Hughes sitting back if they see another season next year (like this one).

I want Habs to sell on the most deadwood possible : Dvorak (first priority), Savard, Armia, Laine, Anderson, Matheson, Gallagher. Ok I know it's imposible for Gally but if he remains the last deadwood on the team, he can be buyed-out or stay. Also, if Evans brings a late first rounder, why not. I think it's a good timing to clean the house and find better depth players, and a good second center, a serious one. I'm so tired of deadwood and overrated players on this forum. Do we realise our team sucks and we are in the cave? Are we serious when we say we rebuilt?

Not sure if we do that. That will require us taking talent away from Laval and a AHL playoff run is something our organization values very much.

Gorton/Hughes are not blinded by their long game and they know what you see. They just can't make panic moves.

I said it before and will say it again, this team is not going on any deep playoff run until Suzuki is 27/28 ish. By then, Demidov and Hage are age 21 ish and most others are in the middle of Suzuki and Demidov/Hage. This is our window.. Suzuki to Demidov/Hage with all the others in the middle.

In their window, there is no place for Dvorak, Anderson, Savard, Matheson or even Evans (but maybe). Who we have in Laval is not enough but we have few guys to fill some spots. Hughes can trade or sign proper vets who will do their job, not some slow or lazy bums. Laine is not too old but he's lazy and doesn't care at all on the defensive game. Now on PP they place a guy always close to him and it becomes a 4 on 3. It was so predictable.
