Post-Game Talk: Smiling Stu Shutouts x 2!

Oilers are off to round 3 baby! I'd love to see a Jets Oilers western final but it'll probably be the Stars. If it is the Stars I think they will give the Oilers the most trouble it'll probably go 6 or 7 games but I think the Oilers will win. Lets go Oilers!View attachment 1036707
It will have to be Karma.

The Oilers have played the Jets in every playoff when the won their five cups.

Not 100% sure but the three other finals appearances the Oilers went to did not involve playing the Jets.

Things have switched for me. I'm not minding Jack as much these days, but I can certainly do without Louie.

Funny… I’ve come to love them both, but Jack was and acquired taste….

I take Louie over Jack (though lately he’s lazy on reviewing replay and his eyes are failing on first view)

As I wrote before, you ride the hot goalie until they lose of get hurt.
Nope. Edm won’t be playing for like 10 days. That’s too much time off for skinner. He struggled the game he returned back. I fear Stu will struggle in game 1 and blow it. Throw pickard back in. He’s used to it and I’m not backing down from that.

I don't think Skinner will have much rope if pickard is healthy but you probably can't ignore back to back shut outs.

Not political. They didn’t want us in the NHL. I won’t cheer for them
The whole league voted against all the teams coming in. Then...

From Google;
, "in the 1979 NHL merger with the WHA, the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Vancouver Canucks initially voted against the deal. However, Montreal and Vancouver later changed their votes, allowing the merger to proceed."

From Wikipedia....
"The NHL also initially rejected the 1979 expansion agreement by one vote earlier in March 1979; however, a massive boycott of Molson products in Canada led the Montreal Canadiens, who were owned by Molson, to reverse their position and call for a second vote on expansion. That second vote saw the agreement ratified after the Canadiens and Vancouver Canucks dropped their opposition."

Jack Michaels is so over the top at times I totally get why some sour on him. But I can look past that as most times for me he's very good to build excitement at the proper times. And when he's on...he's spot on excellent.

I slways refer to his call on McD when he went through all the Rangers and scored as a benchmark..."...what can you even say?"

Cool. I still won’t cheer for them. I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove or do. You really want me to cheer for Montreal don’t you? Lol

I think he's trying to prove that your given reason for rooting against the Habs is a bit backwards.

You're entitled to hate any team you want, of course.
I still don’t understand why the investment in my rationale for not wanting to cheer for them. In that same vain, everyone on here not cheering for Toronto is a bit backwards too.

He was just saying it's an odd reason to cheer against a specific team when in fact they were being consistent with the entire league, and even were the first (together with the Canucks) to change their minds on the subject.

No, I get it, but if we were to follow logic, we should all be cheering for Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg - yet here we are.

I haven't followed the entire thread of the conversation so I might not get the original context, but to me it looks like the argument is that there's no reason to specifically cheer against the Habs, or at least the WHA thing isn't.

Glad Stu got his confidence back, the team and he will need it.

You play 11-7 in his first game back, no question in my mind. Though, if Ekholm comes back and is effective, this blueline is just amazing.
