Post-Game Talk: Smiling Stu Shutouts x 2!

Look back at the early season or after 2 games against LA..old and slow, not a serious contender...a bunch of Craig buttons on this forum lmao. So much overreacting. We've seen this team comeback from deficits so much it is surprising their own fans don't believe . No guarantees but this is a very good team.

Stu aside, it was clear that group hadn't played together much and still nearly won one of those games. Once they got on the same page it was lights out LA, and even more to Vegas.

Yeah I don't have that kind of money either, maybe patronize a local restaurant or something else like that.
This is one of my favorite suggestions to people if on the Southside:

Go there and order almost anything and you won't be disappointed.

Its a takeout essentially although you can eat in if wanted. Everything there is good.

Thank you kindly, I just may have to check it out.

I was talking to my dad about this earlier and there's a distinct difference between the Oilers and the Leafs.

The Oilers suffered a heartbreaking loss in game 3 off a freak bounce that prevented them from going up 3-0 in the series. What did they do? They laid waste to the Knights the next game and then shut them out again in this game.

The Leafs suffered a similar tough loss in game 3 that prevented them from going up 3-0 in their series and they just.... went to bed.

This team can deal with adversity. Showed it a lot last year too.

The Leafs can't. The cracks were starting to show in the Sens series. If it was anyone but the Sens the Leafs might've lost that series.
Oilers are more battle tested. The saying is true. You have to usually feel heartbreak to realize that you never want that feeling again. They lost game 7 by 1 goal in the finals. FLA also lost the year prior. Got killed by Vegas.

They now have more control of their emotions and know what it will take.

TO absolutely wilted and imploded in games 3 and 4.

Well nobody has experienced more heartbreak than the Leafs. Numerous collapses and losses in deciding games.

But they don't seem to have learned anything from it. Their top guys just don't have the extra gear or the hunger. Berube was supposed to be the guy that finally got them to shape up and yet again they lay the biggest egg at the worst possible time.

If, or rather when, they lose, they'll be a fascinating team to watch if the offseason. No way can they run it back with those guys.

Battling is usually associated with scoring. Almost everybody in the Oilers lineup dug down deep and got to goals. Goals in playoffs usually requiring that degree of extra effort, of better plays, of determination.

Vegas failed to even score a goal in the last 7periods leading to their elimination. They whimpered and died. The OT is a bit of illusion as the Oilers just played the tidy road game because they knew eventually if they did they would bag the winner. Somebody would. Not scoring for 7periods in a row is inept. YOur top 5 goal scorers all regular season not have even ONE goal among them in the series is utterly inept. Its laughable.

This was basically similar to Oilers going down to Winnipeg in the Covid season. But THAT club had the excuse of youth and still not knowing completely how hard playoffs can be. The Vegas club have no such excuse. With respect to Karlsson and Smith they can't be your best players in a series, if they are the others should look in the mirror.

The Knights earned contempt, again, in that series.
A big difference, is that both Pickard and Skinner outplayed the "great Aidin Hill" and are now moving on.:D

Rantanan is 6th all time?? :skeptic:

Toronto should have won multiple Cups by now if feeling heartbreak was the motivator lol.

Somewhat. Again watch Leafs vs Panthers game and just in first period both goalies had to make several stupendous stops. Hill of course has the harder body of work facing the Oilers juggernaut.

The Oilers goalies are facing a bunch of guys that can't score in playoffs to save their lives this postseason. The entire Knights offense dried up.

In two games Skinner wasn't required to make the saves that Bobo and Woll were in one period yesterday.

Remains to be seen if every team we face lies down as much as Vegas did. I don't think so. That said it seems like this Oilers club is up to any challenge presently.

Think CBC, Rogers, and Toronto, in no particular order. One has to understand the zeitgeist of Canada to understand.

Nothing good EVER comes out of the prairies, nothing. Thats the view and if you go down East you get to feel and experience that view first hand. We're just hicks up here that should take the crumbs we get and shut up.

So that even the Gretzky/Mess/Coffey/Kurri/Anderson/Fuhr Oilers were looked off. Only a few like Bob Cole, Dick Irwin, and Howie Meeker gave that club its regard. All of Eastern Canada would be talking about the Leafs or Habs.

The other aspect is that the NHL has always had contempt for the WHA merger clubs and one can argue it never really went away. The NHL always irked by any success of any of the Former WHA squads. To the NHL's view they did everything possible at merger entry draft to make the WHA clubs look far worse than any NHL club and they didn't succeed. That fomented such disgust they even moved 3 of those clubs and wanted the 4th, the Edmonton Oilers, moved as well. The NHL had wanted to erase ANY trace of the former WHA that they hated.

A lot of younger posters wouldn't know all the back history.

Harold Ballard: "That Wayne Gretzky kid won't survive one year in the NHL" He actually said that and on it went. The NHL so disgusted in Wayne owning the league they refused him Rookie of the year award AND gave the Hart Trophy to Marcel Dionne instead of Wayne. They HATE us!.
The one draft to rule them all was their undoing.

In other news, HFVegas is having a meltdown in their Game Day Thread. It's already beat their previous record of 13 posts. Look out! They are growing in numbers!

View attachment 1036708
There were literally 4 pregame comments, about 4 during game comments and 5 eulogies.

15post total including OP.

Somebody could send a "I really like you're team and think your just one player away and I think you're really almost right there" posts. But nobody could lie that hard.

Worth mention there are zero sarcastic OOT laughing at posts or anything like that. This replaced by a dread "look out Oilers" People don't even bother trolling here anymore. Colorado fans be fishing or drugging or something.

Calgary fans: yeah but my arena might be bigger than yours"

Vancouver fans: <hopped off> who's surprised?

Not even LA trolls exist anymore.

having zero fan opposition kind of removes something.
