Post-Game Talk: Smiling Stu Shutouts x 2!

I have to admit I was a big Skinner supporter but after his struggles this year I have all but given up on him. Back to back shutouts have me thinking I am John Wick.

The Main Boards are a hoot. Before the LA series it was all about how LA was the better team this year with better depth. Then when the Oilers won it was ... LA is not all that. Wait until they have to face a real team in Vegas. And then a flood of Vegas depth etc posts. Now it is Vegas is old and slow...Wait until they have to face a real team in Dallas or Winnipeg. And this is almost a carbon copy of what was said last year.

In the post game interviews McDavid seemed quite pissed about being asked whether he expected that the Oilers could win this sort of defensive war. Even the media still thinks this team is just flash and dash.

Stauffer said to expect Ekholm back in round 3. ...
If he's right about that, this is the deepest forward and defense group that I've ever seen on an Oilers team

RNH-McDavid-Hyman
Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Kapanen
Kane-Henrique-Brown
Frederic-Janmark-Perry
Skinner, Arvidsson (two guys who have been top 6 forwards their entire career as the extras lol)

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Kulak
Walman-Klingberg
Stecher, Emberson
That's 8 guys who would be regulars on a lot of teams

That's some serious depth. I just hope they're not rushing Viking, he should only be out there if he's near 100% otherwise he could be a liability.

That team is significantly stronger than the 2006 version so long as the goaltending holds up. Walman-Klingberg can rival any team's bottom pairing. The major ??? for me is is Ekholm really ready to play. If he is that defense is the best of the remaining teams. Who would have ever "thunk" that. :)

Yeah the main forum is pathetic.

In pre series thread, people were saying Vegas had better forward depth. I guess the LA series didn’t count.

Its going to be the same thing with Dallas. Oilers depth outplayed Dallas depth last year and our forwards depth (and our defensive depth) are better than last year.

We will see how it goes. Rantanen is a big add for Dallas. I think they have been looked pretty average these playoffs though outside of Rantanen.

I think Edmonton has better forwards and defense than Dallas. I think they will have problems with our physicality too.

They have Oettinger though. But let’s not forget that Skinner outplayed him last year and is trending up.

Leafs lead the league in absolutely horrible trade deadline deals, it’s almost uncanny how they do it every year.
I wonder if they still will claim McDavid is going to Toronto. They love bringing that one up. Who in their right mind would ruin their career and go to that gong show? Worst run team in all of sports and it’s not even close.
Bring back Dubas and Babcock. Give us more entertainment
