Post-Game Talk: Smiling Stu Shutouts x 2!

Me before series: Eichel hardly ever scores in playoffs. He's not a real threat.

I wasn't jinxing after all. series over and I have even more of that opinion now. In fairness if any Vegas player could score in a barn he might have a few mroe assists but what a failure by the Vegas No Knights lineup. still laughing. Maybe they should bring the gold helmets back.

The only time Eichel ever mounted much of anything in playoffs was the cup year. Makes you sick. he's never replicated a thing. he was contained, controlled. After this series Barbie and Hertl shouldn't ever get another contract. Paper tiger regular season players.

Hertl: zero goals zero pts last 7 playoff games. Barbie might have negative production...

The only one Hertl hurt this series was his trainer. What a nothingburger.

I was talking to my dad about this earlier and there's a distinct difference between the Oilers and the Leafs.

The Oilers suffered a heartbreaking loss in game 3 off a freak bounce that prevented them from going up 3-0 in the series. What did they do? They laid waste to the Knights the next game and then shut them out again in this game.

The Leafs suffered a similar tough loss in game 3 that prevented them from going up 3-0 in their series and they just.... went to bed.

This team can deal with adversity. Showed it a lot last year too.

The Leafs can't. The cracks were starting to show in the Sens series. If it was anyone but the Sens the Leafs might've lost that series.

I’m euphoric right now and I haven’t even looked at CP yet
I was just there, here’s some live video footage:

Oilers are off to round 3 baby! I'd love to see a Jets Oilers western final but it'll probably be the Stars. If it is the Stars I think they will give the Oilers the most trouble it'll probably go 6 or 7 games but I think the Oilers will win. Lets go Oilers!

Leafs have never shown that their core has an extra gear. I don't dislike their core, but it feels like they need to surround their core with more mojo. Like we have Kane, Perry, Drai, Hyman, and even Nurse who are capable of bringing a big element of grit and mojo to the group. I can't think of anyone on the Leafs that fits that mold. Maybe Nylander.

Kinda sad, because I feel like the Leafs sold their soul to get Tavares... When they really needed guys like Kadri and Hyman, which they already had.

Hertl was mentored by Patrick Marleau on how to choke in the playoffs. Same with Matthews and Marner.

Their core lacks the "it" factor outside of maybe Nylander.

I'll give you an anecdote:

After the Leafs won their first playoff series in 20 years or something I was partying with a bunch of Leafs fans (Oilers were dispatching the Kings during this conversation) when one of them showed me a tweet, now I can't find it, but it was basically a cellphone video of the Leafs dressing room and they were celebrating like it was baseball in there. Tweets about extra cases of beer being delivered to the room, etc.

Now I didn't raise this until after they got dumpstered by the Panthers but I questioned the leadership in the room. Why were they celebrating a 1st round victory so heavily and so publicly? Like listen to their postgame interviews, it sounds like they won the cup.

Compare that with us. We got Connor McDavid taking strips off journalists in the postgame. There's no beer, there's no crazy celebration. We're off to the conference final, 3rd in 4 years. The job is not done.
