After moving out Jones and Weber in the last year and losing Vesey to FA, I find it hard to believe that they would make a trade to get significantly older and lose another top prospect

They wouldn't. This is a bad proposal for NSH :shakehead

This.

If Rongos want to move Nash, fans will probably be underwhelmed with the return a la Kessel 2015 Trade.

we have Andersen, Kapanen and Rychel to show for that trade...
also a leafs team with kessel wouldnt have finished 30th and snagged Matthews, so there is that.

the media didnt like the deal , but most leafs fans are more than happy with the return

Bad trade for Nashville, but I think that the Nash & Klein for Ellis + is a nice start.

I've wanted Nash on the Preds for a long time, and I still think that he would be a great addition to the current roster. When Ellis' name was being kicked around, it was a non-starter for me. Adding Klein to the deal caused me to reconsider and here is why:

1. Expansion draft- Nashville will go with the 4-4 option, which will mean that they can only protect one of Smith/Wilson/Jarnkrok. If egular season Wilson shows up again, maybe this isn't a big loss. If playoff Wilson finally establishes himself during the regular season, the expansion draft is a big problem. Trading Ellis allows Nashville to go with the 7-3 option which would result in exposing nobody of significance.

2. D-pairings- Maybe I'm being too traditional in my thinking, but I actually like the balance of Josi/Klein and Suban/Eckholm vs. Josi/Suban and Eckholm/Ellis. I'm worried that Josi and Suban are too similar in style to make a good pair.

I can get behind Nash & Klein for Ellis & 2nd.
