GDT: Slovakia vs the Czech republic - 3:20 PM (CET)

3-3 after 60 with Czechia sealing the deal on a PP in overtime.
 
The Czech team should win but we all know the opening games are always tricky. And Slovakia doesn't have that bad roster as it might seem in some of the pre-tournament games. They have some really gritty, well skating guys, especially among the forward group. Nobody should underestimate them.

We usually have rought start to the tourney but I think this time we will beat Slovakia comfortably. My guess is 4-1. Can´t wait.
 
In today's match, Slovakia de facto has a B defense and a goalkeeper. Mandatory victory, otherwise Kari is a dead man with me..:cool:

Our D might get exposed today. We need this to be a high scoring, wide open game with lots of back and forth so that our quick offensive players can shine. If this turns into a slow, strategic, defensive duel, I don't like our chances as the Czech D and goaltending is better.

Hate the d setup. Top 6 is lovely. Like the forward group.

I doubt another nation would healthy scratch Kaut and Vlejmelka for such a big match.

I wanted Canada first.lol. They always suck in first game. Slovakia is going to unleash hell on us!

4-3... No idea who wins. Plating hrubec is just f***en stupid. Career .890 for Czechs. Career .920 for clubs.
 
1 guy only got a penalty?lol I thought IIHF called everything?

I like the call though... Czechs were stirring shit up.

Nice goal... great shot. Hrubec won't finish above .900. I know this because he never finishes above .900 for us. . Jordan with a nice screen too! Olympic PTSD!

No kidding.. that was nuts. I'd agree that Slovakia should've got the PP out of it though. I don't even mind how engaged the Czechs were.. those were our leaders.. NHL guys and grizzled Euros. They're clearly here to fight.

Now if only we didn't start a shitty goalie.

Simon Hrubec! YELLOW is national team.. mostly under .900. White is Clubs... mostly above .920. He may end up winning the DEL, LIIGA and SEL before he retires. What he won't do is win much for the Czechs as it is really hard to win a medal with sub .900 goalies.
