In fairness, I loved Boqvist and thought he'd be a stud. Since I'm on Swedes, I though A. Nylander was going to be awesome too. When I miss... I miss!

im half joking, but Boqvist was smaller, not an amazing skater, and had an amazing shot.

I think he’s a lot more mobile and shifty than Bouchard. A worse skating Hughes with a much better shot is what I see.

That's what I think too but Hughes evolved into an excellent defender, ASP has tons of work to do there imo but it could come with time for sure. He could just end up being a Gost/Hronek type of player too but his talent level and offensive instincts definitely suggest there is something more there. Hughes is a high, high bar though.

Poster admitted he was joking but Boqvist was 8th overall and ASP was 17th. Both swedish. Both stars at junior level. It's not crazy to suggest this.

ASP has grown significantly since being drafted 17th overall. His current season in the SHL is far beyond anything Boqvist ever approached. It’s a pretty terrible comparison at this point.

I think Sweden wins this handily.. 5-1. Like the Finns, Slovaks will grow from this and get stronger. Good roster. That Swede roster is amazing and Swedes are the Kings of Round Robin games.

Swedes looked really good after the 1st. I thought ASP and FUS were both excellent. Lindstein and Nilsson also stood out to me

Slovaks can take away some positives from that. Strbak and Urban were very good

As a finn, i don't want Slovakia in the quarter. They will take their first win 100 %. They often claim Finland is the worst opponent for them but I usually think Finland have a difficult time against Slovakia and... Records will always be broken. Therefor I rather be a clear underdog than get Dvorsky, Pekarcik, Chromiak, Strbak and a good goalie in a quarter.
