The most overlooked, underappreciated two teams of the Big-7.

Great to see. :handclap:

They have a lot of talent, and are playing as a team.

Which one will make it to the gold medal game? My money's on Slovakia.

ALl that matters is the Gold..Canada gave it a half a** effort and only lost 2-0.

I feel sorry for all you guys. Watch when Canada revs it up after the next game.

group stage means squat. I actually think they need to change the system. Top teams are playing brutal, and in the end it wont matter.

Comments like these are exactly why a lot of people on these forums think Canadians are arrogant and narrowminded when it comes to hockey.

Finland also had a bronze in 1998 and finished 2nd in the World Cup. Not to mention a couple medals in the WJC. This isn't some country fluking it, Finland has been on the way up for along time.

You read about some of the stuff they are doing over in Finland vs the stuff they do in Canada... its incredible. Finland has just started pumping out some pretty damn good players, and you'll see some real quality coming out of Finland for the next 20 years.

We'll see after that. Maybe Slovania and Croatia will step up and be a world power. ;)

Even if Finland would get the gold metal now, majority would still write them off on the next tournament, just like they do today. You and a handfull of finns would be saying "Finland might get a medal" and others will say "Could Canada's 6th team beat this silly Finnish squad?".

It's because we're a bunch of arrogant fans who think this is "our game" and the reason why Canada would would ever lose a game is because we beat ourselves.

The truth is that Finland has been one of the top countries in the past 8 years. I'd probably put them 2-3, and could see them solidifying themselves as top 2 in the next couple years.

And do you really care?

I guess I do, otherwise I probably would not have bothered to post. But it's not a biggie, just something that always puzzles me. And makes me waste time telling people "you should not count out Finland" before every tournament.

But yeah, this time it looked even worse because of the big rejections we got before the games....even I lost some faith.

lol so when other teams outplay Canada it's because of them? Fins just played a smarter, better game.

It's amazing how many Finn fans are on these boards, and how few Slovak fans.

Your general finnish hockey fan has better internet access and writes better english than the average slovak fan. That's probably why :teach:

Does this board have any Czech fans? I've seen Finns, Swedes, Russians, Slovaks, Germans, Swiss... I can't remember seeing any Czech fans.

Overlooked? Personally, before the Olympics i was ranking the teams:

1.Canada
2.Czech
3 Sweden
4.Slovakia
5.Russia
6.USA
7.Finland
8.Germany
