True, but in context of what we were talking about (a regular season game which likely won't mean anything in the long run, but opens up the opportunity to send a message) it's more about the way a team chooses to play.
If I'm Boston and I see the #2 team in the conference rolling out a star defenseman who's nursing an injury, I'm telling my forwards to knock the shit out of that guy on the forecheck. Don't do anything over the top, but finish every check, knock him down, make him go get painkillers at intermission. With any luck, that injury nags him even more and you not only hurt that team's chance at catching up, you put them in a bad spot for the playoffs as well. All that can be done without a Wilson type player, just by going at him constantly.
Canes play that game a little better than they used to, but by design they just aren't a team that runs around very much. Boston isn't quite as heavy as they used to be, but the culture is still very ingrained there and we should expect them to come for us.
