LeClair was like this early on. He was not shooting. Then in his mid 20ies he started to shot. Slaf has not reached 100% of his physical maturity yet. He'll be much stronger in 5 years and his shot when he'll put all his weight on it will be much more dangerous in 5 years so he'll likely use it more as a result

I lOVED LeClair when he was here, you could see the potential. I remember watching him bulldog in the corners. Once night against the Sabres he dropped the gloves for the first time and I was like 'holy f*** he can throw em too!'

But he was a frustrating player to watch here at time. You could see the potential but he was trying to pass or Deke around more often than shot. HIs letal slap shot from the Flyers years had not happened yet and it took him a few years to get there but when he did oh boy ...

You could see his potential, I was really sad when they traded him. Not that I knew he was going to be a 50 goal guy, I just like how he fit in here. We were a big nasty club in those days, fun times.

I always felt he was trying too hard in Montreal and holding his stick too tight.
And yet he'd have games like when he'd go up against Lindross and win the physical battle.
Philadelphia wanted him bad for that reason alone.
My favorite Hab at the time and I was decimated when we traded him.
Needless to say I wasn't a huge Mark Recchi fan.

He has always been very self-aware of what he can do and isn't doing. His problems were mental more than anything. And if the switch stay flipped now, he should start to score, his sh% is very low.

Good for him to acknowledge he's been crap all season just too bad he didn't expand on that and explain why. If it was a physical reason, it's much more understandable why but then why let him play and if it was a mental thing, why did the organization not get him the help he needed.

Slaf did expand on it. He's too hard on himself which cause him to think too much on the ice and tune out the coach. He stopped tuning out the coach in the Sabres games thanks to his talk with MSL before the game (from what I remember Slaf called it a good frank discussion).

Maybe Montreal should have sports psychologist at the ready as it seems that there are many issues,they got the money.

They have one on staff, but you can't force someone to consult. Someone no receptive to seek help won't listen to it when forced on them.
