Post-Game Talk: Skinner Does Dallas

It all started with that infamous Calgary series a couple years back and the whole “two guys beat us” comment. Ever since then head coaches can’t seem to help but twist themselves into a straitjacket pretzel with increasingly wild histrionics when we play them. Maurice has largely been immune to this which is probably a reason why the Panthers prevailed last year- being a raving lunatic to the media probably means they are a raving lunatic in the room too, and that’s the last thing players in such high pressure situations need.
That’s also when the Oilers started dismantling their divisional rivals

Lucky, Nurse has to stop with this dumb shit especially with Ekholm out. He's too valuable to the team and there's too much at stake. If the Oilers simply cut the stupid out of the game (adding in the stupid Kane and Perry penalties in Game 1) and they'd likely be favorites for the Cup. Just cut the stupid out, it should be easy for vets to recognize this.

The current series is 1-1. Not gonna count all the chickens just yet. Panthers are taking care of business, we're still 3 W's away from punching ticket. So are Dallas.

Best of 5 now. Oilers with home advantage in this series now.
Yep, lots of hockey to be played yet.

It was definitely a windup, he put some force into it. Again, if that happened to McDavid this fanbase would be calling the offender a piece of shit.
It was a 2 minute minor penalty and thats only if they bother to call it all. Worse than that gets ignored numerous times in the game. I was joking in the GDT during the first period that a Stars player couldn’t skate anywhere near Corey Perry without getting whacked and that was after he’d already taken a penalty.

This was only an issue because either Nurse managed to get him in a spot with no padding and hurt him or Hintz was faking the entire thing to try and draw as big of a penalty as he could in a game they had nothing going. That sure worked for them in game 1. Debouer decided after the game to try to use a nothing incident to try and game the officials for an advantage later in the series. Benn and Marchment followed his lead. We’ll find out soon enough how seriously injured Hintz was.

Stecher is the correct choice to come out for Ekholm, but with how he's playing the Oil thankfully don't need to rush it.

The one player who will be happiest to see Ekholm back is Kulak. He's holding his own, but you can see some frayed edges in his game as he's being asked to play top pairing with Bouch and top PK with Nurse.

Getting Ekholm back will let him slip into Stecher's second pairing minutes with Nurse and (more importantly) a far smaller role on the PK, where Nurse and Ekholm anchor the left side, and Kulak, Bouchard, and Walman split the time on the right.
