Post-Game Talk: Skinner Does Dallas

Good bounce back games from Kulak and Stetcher. They both know it'll be one of them who goes out when Ekholm is ready. Hopefully Ek is ready for game 3. Stetcher likely the guy coming out. Smaller chance, we go 11-7.
I don't think Kulak is in this discussion.
Playoffs Kulak is better than Walman , Nurse and even Ekholm are 90%.

I had to do a double take that he's listed at 6ft6. He doesn't use his height or reach effectively. He plays as if he's Quicks Size. Ott also has good games bad games.

That said last night he made every stop on intended plays. All 3 goals were more the broken play variety, harder to read.

He's a quality goalie but not my favorite by any means.

I remember reading Markstrom was 6 ft 6 after watching the Oilers abuse him for years and I almost spit out my drink

“Obviously, after a game, you’re emotional,” Knoblauch said of DeBoer’s comment. “Especially when your player gets — doesn’t return. But to say that Connor McDavid gets preferential treatment is … you know, I’ve been coaching for about 200 games for the Oilers, and I haven’t seen Connor get that special treatment. Probably the standard is higher for him.

“I look at the power plays drawn through the playoffs this year, and Connor has drawn five. The Dallas players have had five players with just as many power plays drawn, or more, than Connor McDavid. I find that hard to believe. I just see how many times he gets slashed and hooked throughout the regular season and playoffs, so I think the standard is actually against him.”

f***ing rights, Knob.

In the same game McD got submarined by a player trying to put him in the hospital 2X. That was BEFORE the Nurse whack. That was Blackwell. Played 10mins, had 2 hits, both on McD, and with the Dallas crowd lustily cheering both of them. Both were attempts to injure McD.

Nurse basically reminding Stars if they want to take liberties. From the outset my only problem with the Nurse play was that it was Hintz. he's not doing anything anyway. Oilers should WANT Hintz and Johnson on the ice at this point.

Yup, I don’t get the easy path to the finals narrative by certain fan bases. Cough, Leafs, Flames and Canucks. LA was a pita. We were a semi miracle away of going down 3-0 to them.

In the case of Flames and Canucks fans it’s just petty jealousy mixed with butthurt from losing to us (in 2022 and 2024 respectively) plain and simple.

Just imagine if the Flames or Canucks had our playoff record since 2022 and what would we be saying about them lol.

Luckily it’s a question we don’t have to answer because the reality is we’re in our 3rd WCF in 4 years and they’re not on our radar. And it drives them nuts:laugh:

Leafs fans are just mad at us because of McDavid. We didn’t care about each before that beautiful day in April 2015.

I’ll always have the “WE ****ING WON MCDAVID!” thread bookmarked.

Good statement by Knobs, deboer , I lost respect fro him, mcdavid takes more crap then anyone, and 97 took a bad late hit in that game, that was dangerous.

Someone should ask DeBoer why Benn wasn't given a 5 minute major for connecting on a wild swing to an unsuspecting Scheifle. Or why McDavid doesn't draw an extra 6 penalties a game for being hacked, tripped, grabbed, chopped, interferred with etc, because he's "Connor McDavid" and just so much better than everyone else, and the Oilers would be on the PP for half the game.

It was a stupid penalty by Nurse but this is the kind of thing that usually gets taken care of on the ice. Jamie Benn should challenge Nurse to a fight.
The dumbest play all night by the Oilers was on the PP. You could see the Dallas players were desperate to get something at 3-0 and they sent two players high to try to just effect a block/shorty breakaway. Oilers fed right into it. Was like like slow motion not recognizing what was going on. For Dallas it was a setplay and something they pull off faceoffs in certain game situations. its all Dallas were trying to do there is score, but fortunately it was Johnson on the breakaway, (he didn't even get a sog lol) and the only reason he's on the ice.

Johnson is -15 in playoffs and a GA nightmare. he's not out there to kill a penalty. ;)

Oilers spotters or players need to pay a bit more attention to setplays.

Here is Knoblauch's response to DeBoer's comments. He pointed out that Dallas has 5 players who have drawn the same (or more) amount of penalties as McDavid in these playoffs.

That was the most politest, kindest “STFU, a-hole, I have receipts” response ever. Whereas a coach like Torts would have went on a profanity laced tirade and got fined for it.

Having a a tactician and a statistician as a coach is a bit funny because he’s literally like “here’s the data that shows DeBoer is full of shit” and then just leaves.

Kulak has been great but man the takes here are crazy..walman has bene one of the best dmen in the playoffs this year...Stop talking down one player to prop up another. He was a great addition for this team
Walman has been much better than I expected. He's simplified and made smart % plays and simple plays and just finding open man. Not forcing plays up middle. He's really listened to what the coaching staff want.

That said playoff Kulak sure is a thing. Particularly the production end. What a huge goal. That was the game. Coffey was thrilled for him.

Marchment talking all tough over the Nurse slash. How about Marchment giving a ref a whack a couple weeks ago? No call? They still wanna cry? Nurses slash was barely harder, Marchment is lucky that ref didn’t end up in a boot.

I hope he challenges Nurse and gets knocked the f*** out
It's always the guilty dirt bags that saw his crap. Marchment is a dirt bag, and that face lol. Cry babies.

Big shoutout to Nurse and Bouch, who were far and away the best dmen last night, with Kulak and Stetcher not far behind. Colonel Klink and Wallman were okay but struggled a bit at times in their own end. When Ek is ready, I'd run the 11/7 for a couple games to ease his minutes in the game, and make sure there are no relapses this time. I'm sure McDavid can handle a few extra 4th line duties for a bit.

That was great from Knob. And seriously, anyone that pays any attention knows McDavid gets the opposite of special treatment. Parros even doubles up normal suspensions on McDavid when he gets the opportunity. TheBore looks like a complete clown right now.

That KK is even nice about it just makes it better. I love this guy. He's like a good professor. He's right though, Deboer lost his head in the moment and just trying to milk officials on something. It was dumb comments. Particularly as Dallas were targeting the best player in the universe.

I have an update on Hintz. The slash was way worse than it appeared. Poor bugger.

And I expect him to have a miracle recovery and be out on the Stars PP unit tomorrow afternoon.
WE should hope that he is. he's doing nothing.

Him and Robertson not on their games. Granlund, who shouldn't be doing this much, has been such a player for them this playoffs and even this round, and for some reason was removed from PP. Hard to figure what coaches are thinking sometimes.

Hintz last night on PP sprang the Oilers for oddman rushes at least twice with horrible passes.

Hintz, Robertson, Johnson have been terrible. But Dallas need production so they stay on the ice.
