Post-Game Talk: Skinner Does Dallas

.
Inching closer to Ekholm's return.

Nurse is the only player I didn't like tonight. Quality team game top to bottom.
Who comes out when Ekholm comes back? Stetcher and Klingberg are playing at a very high level. Move someone to F?

Won’t be Klingberg imo he’s been unreal and eating pretty big minutes. We also have solid NHL forwards eating pop corn.

It suck for Stetcher because he’s playing well but he’s the odd man out.
It's a bit awkward considering that Knoblauch tries to maintain proper balance in terms of left shots on the left side and right on right. Even good pairings from before like Nurse-Kulak have a disadvantage on Kulak's side of the boards for that half second. Knoblauch only did it last year because Desharnais' game fell apart and we needed proven talent there

The problem we have is Stecher coming out is a right shot coming out for a left shot, Ekholm, and all our Dmen are better on their proper side. So I'd doubt Klingberg comes out since he shoots right

To me its clear we are going with 11-7 when Ekholm comes back but when he settles in, I'd guess Walman coming out based on the usage of our LD. The rank is clearly Ekholm-Nurse-Kulak-Walman and there isn't enough of a gap between Walman and Stecher to sacrifice the proper balance

A log of Skoal long cut classic is 28USD in Arizona. 5 tins. Can you even buy 1 for that in Canada? I always bring a few home for my son, 4-5 times a year.
It's insane how taxed up the ass we are on that stuff here. Plus how impossible it is to find any sort of nicotine pouches. Every States trip guys are taking orders on what to bring back for sure haha

I buy a 66oz of Bacardi at Walmart for 17.99. It’s about 58 bucks here. Good thing I don’t live there 12 months a year. My liver wouldn’t handle it.

One thing I’ll just say: Stars fans on the mains are amongst the least friendly I’ve seen here. Kings fans were generally nice, the few Vegas fans were nice. Stars fans? Big nooooope.

You’re not wrong about Dallas and LA. But Vegas has no fans on here lol

According to some posters, it was clearly planned to be like that. All because of good positioning and tracking.

Nothing lucky about it at all.

🤪
All saves are lucky to an extent. Thats what positioning is all about. You make your own luck, and Skinner made his own luck on that save. If he would have given up or took too long like in game 1, then that puck is in the net. Instead, after that awkward bounce he successfully tracked the puck, faced the shooter, anticipated the shot by bringing the paddle out, and then even moved the paddle mid shot to react to the exact placement. He even rolled over so the puck wouldnt bounce off of him. Sure he is lucky the shot didn't go higher but every part of that save was on purpose or part of his instinct. He fought for that save so he gets full credit for it.

I would be calling it just a lucky save if Skinner were flopping out of position, lost sight of the puck, and the shot just happened to hit him out of dumb luck. Nothing like that happened on that save

No chance Walman comes out. Not a chance

Oettinger's save percentage in games 1 and 2: .889 and .880. He was only below .900 three times before this round and never twice in a row.

This team gets to goaltenders.
Not to mention 2 pucks that trickled along the goal line, a post by McDavid, and a couple 2 on 1 passes that skipped over poor ice. If Edmonton can play like this on home ice, we should be able to really break him.

I think Jack and Bob mentioned it on the radio broadcast (I was listening while driving somewhere) this Oiler team just scores on whoever. If a team thinks they can just "ride" the goaltending advantage, that doesn't work against the Oilers

Sure there is a chance. Everyone has played well. Unless we go 11-7 the rest of the way, someone is coming out. Everyone is saying it's Stecher but isn't chemistry with Nurse important too? Stecher has been great. Are we pulling him out because of his size? Are we giving up on D balance just for the tiny gap in value between Stecher and Walman?

Honestly, the D has been so good that maybe we do go 11-7 right to the end. If not, I don't think we can argue that Walman isn't our 4th ranked LD

Walman coming out? Hahaha what? No, Walman is not coming out. It will be Stetcher.
