SKA Officially Terminates Matvei Michkov’s Contract - He’s Coming! upd: signs ELC on 7/1

He sure has the talent, he's going to do whatever it takes, look for Michkov to have much improved skating these next few years. The hockey IQ is there for greatness.

You can bet your bottom dollar he'll be training & practicing like no ones business this summer. No post pneumonia recovery. Skating, stamina & skills will all go up a notch. If the front office can find him a centreman & decent wing & sort the PP1 unit 90 points next season.

19.30 a night and an average PP will get him to around 85 points per 82 without him actually getting any better mathematically.

I see 90-95 next year, dudes IQ and compete is just too high. I wouldn’t be surprised if he touches 100 but I know that’s reaching. Lol he’ll only be 20/21. I hope another prospect comes along like him soon, what a joy it’s been to watch this kid come up and he ended up on my team somehow. A lot of people say a list of of Russians as his comparibles, I literally see his only comparable as Kucherov. Generational hockey IQ. Is what it is. I’ve fought with people on the main board about it his offensive upside is Ross level, I think he has more offense than anyone drafted in the past 8-10 years and that includes Bedard. Matthews will obviously pot more goals and he’s not McDavid but he’s in that next tier and he’s at the top of the list for me.

At least Yahoo got it right. The media had their darlings even if they weren't the best on the ice.

Nah, does anybody give a f*** McDavid didn't get the award? No. Does anybody give a f*** Crosby didn't get the award? No. Calder is actually the most useless of all NHL awards. Or rather not useless, but meaningless. Because it doesn't basically mean anything but being the best rookie. And even this is pretty subjective.

That's why you can see players like Chris Drury, Barret Jackman and Tyler Myers amongst winners. Or Jeff Skinner, it took who 12 years to outscore his rookie season.

Watching Michkov play hockey is sort of funny to me because he looks so incomplete and yet is so productive... He hasn't even come close to his potential yet. Compare 00's Crosby to 2010's Crosby. The sky is the limit.

Will the Flyers ever try him at center? maybe if he begs and pleads hard enough. Could he be a center? Maybe... not this year though.

This rookie class was unexpectedly stronger than I thought it was going to be. Shame that the media doesn't do more to highlight this. The NHL is seemingly only capable of celebrating like 5 players a year when this is the kind of sport where we can celebrate all sorts of players and their journeys...

“A new coach always means a fresh start. I don’t know him personally, so I can’t say much yet,” explained Michkov. “The main thing is that the team improves and makes the playoffs. I just hope I’ll have freedom on the ice. When I feel limited, I start focusing on the wrong things.”

30 point jump is a lot...not sure about that with what we have on the team

Really in depth watch his tape and see how many missed chances he’s produced, it’s kind of completely insane, I’ve dissected it all. I’d bet my life this a 5-8x 100 point guy with Ross upside. ASK Appleyard my dm’s with him I was off by one point I said he’ll pot 62 ( because of Torts) when we knew he was coming over. I’ve been watching Michkov since he was 15, this guy is as real as it gets. This guy was the best 5v5 player in the NHL after 4 nations, with his training regime and the work he puts in, you’re going to be shocked next year if you think it’s too big of a jump for Michkov. I ain’t @FlyersFan4Life levels of just knowing the future, but with Michkov I’ve literally been spot on. There really isn’t much to beleive in as a Flyers fan right now but you can bet on Matvei Michkov to be great.

Edit: btw I’m not attacking you, also whoever replaces Rocky should surely play to Matvei’s strengths. *fingers crossed*

I don’t want him at center it takes away parts of his game that make him great, his innate ability to anticipate a breakout and his ability to read plays and jump pucks to spring odd man rushes. When he consistently played with Konency they were on breakaways once every period it felt like. Imagine when he plays with guys who are relatively close to his skill level.
