Gadjovich was listed as the 5th best player under 23 for the Canucks by Corey Pronman this year. Either he is way off or Benning took a really dumb risk thinking he might clear waivers. My guess is the latter. Hearing that multiple teams tried to claim him. Surely he would have had some trade value?

Well, add me to the list of disappointed Canucks fans & I can’t add anything else to what has been said except that in his limited action it looked like Jonah’s skating had improved.

Good luck in San Jose.

He's the exact guy you take a waiver chance on. Still young and a player that has made significant strides in his game over the last 12-18 months. He's on an uptick so why not see where that can lead?

Well except if you are Green and Benning. Then it's the exact guy you do waive in favor of useless vets.

Dressed, scratched or on the bubble? Projecting the Canucks' 2021-22 opening night lineup

Jonah Gadjovich was probably the standout Canucks player at training camp.
...
The large winger, whose development has been held back by a lack of foot speed in years past, put in the work this summer. He leaned out and came to camp with an extra step (or two) of pace evident in his game. He put up points in the training camp scrimmages and has managed a point per game in his two preseason appearances.
..
While Gadjovich has seemingly taken advantage of every opportunity he’s been given throughout camp and preseason, he hasn’t been given much in the way of opportunity. His centres in the games he’s played in have been Highmore and Chase Wouters.
...
At no point in practice or at camp has he played on a line with two linemates that were both obvious NHL-level contributors.
...
Gadjovich will require waivers in the seemingly likely event that he’s cut at this point.

Lol

Chances are he amounts to nothing more than a cup of coffee on a 4th line, but it's frustrating that a young player showing signs of growth is given up for nothing so a bunch of useless vets can hang around. Just so tired of a terrible GM and coach.

This is f***ing stupid. I'm mad we lost this guy for nothing. He looked good in camp, but just because he doesn't kill penalties, and we need to keep guys up that do, we've lost him for nothing.

I have a feeling this guy is going to be a player.

What does he project to be? Weird we claimed him while we have a bunch of AHL tweeners fighting for the last forward spots, unless Doug really likes what this guy has.

He broke out last season in the AHL, 15 goals and 18 points through 19 games is impressive especially at 21 years old. His issue was always his skating, but he showed up to camp much lighter and actually seemed to improve this portion to a passable level, most Canuck fans fully expected him to make the team.

Why was he cut? Because we don't have enough penalty killers, and we have plenty of offensive players.

It's hard to say what he projects to be. I would think a 15g 15a 3rd liner who can play the net front presence on the power play, he has really good hand eye coordination for tip ins.

Benning such a f***ing idiot….

Lockwood didn’t even require waivers and Dries, Chaisson, Dowling are nobodies and would have cleared easily…

Just an awful GM who’s made the playoffs once in his 8 year tenure and has dealt away multiple 1st rounders…. Horrible and long term crippling….

so sick of losing picks and players for nothing.

weird take since all those guys you mentioned are probably not going to make the Canucks and had nothing to do with Gadjovich.

Garland- Pettersson- Boeser
Hoglander- Horvat-Pearson
Dickenson- Miller- Podkolzin
Motte- Sutter- Diguisseppe

Who does Gadjovich take out in that lineup?

-Podkolzin? Id rather Podkolzin make the team over Gadjovich, and Gadjovich cant handle 3rd line role imo that Podkolzin will have.

- Diguissepe has had a very solid solid training camp, and will kill penalties for the team. Gadjovich aint beating him out. Proven NHLer with 200 games under his belt.

I'm happy for Gadjovich that he will get an opportunity with the Sharks (hopefully)

Scouting Report:

-Soft Hands around the net, good around the crease.
- skating is just not good enough, particularly start and stop
- will stand up for his teammates
- doesnt kill penalties which really has hindered him from making the NHL.

Best case scenario, he turns out to be like a poor mans Pat Maroon style of player.

All the best to Jonah!

Supposedly this was one of the Canucks top 5-6 best prospects in their farm and they lose him to waivers? OUCH.

Keep doing you Benning. Either that or he's not very good and their farm is one of the worst in the league... guess it could be both?

Farm is one of the worst in the leagues for sure now.

but thats cuz we had 3 straight season with a Calder Winner or Finalist and I believe was listed as a top5 u25 lineups in the NHL.

and then young guys like Hoglander Podkolzin Rathbone made it straight to the show.

Theyve also traded 1st round picks for legit NHLers like Garland, OEL and JT Miller

The only real NHLers I see in the pipe for the Canucks coming up is

Dipietro Woo Lockwood Klimovich.

Gadjovich is a dime a dozen prospect that is an AHL/NHL tweener.

Heck, Canucks even have Justin Bailey who is an AHL/NHL tweener and Gadjovich not as good as him.

Canucks will probably send down Macewan as well, he has been vanilla at camp.
