Three years gives Shak arbitration rights to walk straight to UFA. Four walks him straight to UFA. If you have hope that he's a future significant contributor to the blue line, you're not signing him to a contract that lets him go as quickly as possible. Give him a year. Let him have a healthy NHL season for once then invest if he's earned it.I really don't like this signing. Was one year really the longest Shak was willing to sign for? With the Sharks cap space and his upside could we not just take the risk and sign him for more at maybe 3 or 4 year term?

He will be for the Sharks next year if he stays healthy.I thought this guy was supposed to be a top-4 player?

Nope. He was the pick that went to Tampa for JT MillerI thought this guy was supposed to be a top-4 player?
This is a picture of Ken Daneyko directly after finding out he was traded and wouldn't have to try saying it anymore. That's a heck of a name
He has the skill for sure to be a top 4 D-man, but is just slightly built (6’4”, 200#) and has not shown he can stay healthy. This is likely a “show me” deal.I thought this guy was supposed to be a top-4 player?
