To New Jersey:
2022 11th overall
Timo Meier

To San Jose:
2022 2nd overall
Jesper Bratt

What would the Sharks need to add to make this work? Is Reimer of interest to the Devils?

Unless Meier agrees to an extension as part of the trade, all Bratt/Meier trade talks are DOA. Bratt is supposed to sign a (long term) extension any day now.

II think the trade is closer to even if it's Zacha instead of Bratt personally, I don't really think there's anything reasonable the Sharks can add to make it work.

I can't imagine that the Sharks would make this sort of move with Zacha involved.

If SJ was willing to move Meier, which I doubt, and Meier was willing to extend at something semi-reasonable with NJ, I'd expect a deal with young guys like Holtz and Smith involved, but my guess is that SJ extends Meier to avoid the QO after this upcoming season.

Bratt is a non-starter for trade talks. Especially since he’s likely to be locked up long term at a very very reasonable deal based on comparables. One that he should absolutely out perform if he continues his play from last year.

I think Devils would be interested in Meier + 11 for 2nd +++ but it would have to be Zacha going the other way for the Devils. How to balance the value after that I don’t know but Devils have some pieces like Smith, Zetterlund, Thompson, and Bahl they could put on the table too. I’d be hesitant to add Holtz, but I would say he could be available too only if Meier comes with a long-term extension.

Makes sense for the Devils to sign Bratt long term. I thought there were rumblings around the trade deadline that they didn't want to do that but I could be remembering it wrong.

11+Meier for 2+Zacha+Smith seems fair.

I was thinking something like that too. It’s a little pricey on the Devils side, but I could see it being done if Devils/Severson are close on a long-term deal. Would make Smith somewhat expendable behind Severson/Hamilton for power play minutes.

I think I would want another small plus from the Sharks in an ideal world, but I don’t think that would be a deal breaker either. Maybe add Reimer in the deal?

I'm a big Holtz fan, would love to see him and Eklund reunited. What would the Sharks need to add to Meier + 11OA for Holtz and 2OA?

Always wanted Meier with Nico, saw this and got excited, would suck to lose the 2OA, but probably would do it, then saw Bratt......

I don't think the Sharks add there, tbh. And I'm a devils fan.

So Bratt is the most overrated player in Jersey then?

This deal is incredibly fair and Meier brings way more of what the Devils need in their top six and Powerplay than Bratt.

Bratt produces at a comparable clip to Timo over the last three years. I'll pass on giving up the premium draft pick swap just because Timo is a bigger dude that can hit things...especially since the devils can stay there and pick Slaf.

If Bratt produces at a similar clip to Timo, I'm not sure how the former is overrated.

Bratt rocks.

Timo Meier is potentially the best power forward in the game right now.

I prefer Meier over Bratt, but when you compare their age and contracts in a couple of years, it isn't incredibly fair anymore. And no way I would sell the 2nd oa in a trade like this.

Bratt + Slafkovsky > Meier + Lekkerimäki (or some similar prospect with that 11th oa pick)

I’m a huge homer and I don’t know if I’d consider Timo the best power forward in the game. I’d do the original trade but I wouldn’t include 11th for anything without Bratt. This trade doesn’t make too much sense for NJD though without Timo being extended. If Timo signed say 8x8 it would be closer.

Who do you take over him?

Especially next to a talent like Hughes or Hischer no offense to Couts and Hertl.

I think the reality is why is San Jose moving Meier for Bratt? Makes no sense.
