How you choose to express your opinion is up to you and you should take responsibility for it. You chose to attack the criteria as opposed to taking a constructive approach for improving what we hope will be a fun exercise each offseason.
Attack is a very strong word; I thought I was fairly constructive. My one criticism was pointing out that the definitions are being changed (with no notice) from thread to thread.

Here is an example of how you can set up the tiers:
KeyF ExampleD ExampleG example
LegendaryMcDavidOrrRoy
GenerationalCrosbyMakar
FranchiseKopitarE.KarlssonQuick
ElitePavelskiVlasicNabokov
1A/#1/StarterMarleauBoyleVernon
1B/#2/1ACoutureEhrhoffMrazek
2nd line/#3/1BM.SturmBraunReimer
3rd line/#4-5/BackupCoyleFerraroStalock
4th line /#6-7/3rd-stringWingelsJ.RyanGrosenick
JourneymanGambrellJoslinSchaefer
If you remove the Legendary and Generational tiers, that gives you 8. A little more compression and you can get 6:

KeyF ExampleD ExampleG example
FranchiseKopitarE.KarlssonQuick
ElitePavelskiVlasicNabokov
Solid Top HOTL/StarterMarleau/HertlBoyle/EhrhoffVernon
Middle HOTL/TandemM.Sturm/CoyleBraun/DillonMrazek/Reimer
Bottom HOTL/BackupWingels/SmithHuskins/J.RyanStalock
JourneymanGambrellJoslinSchaefer
Maybe add another tier for boom/bust prospects and Bob's your uncle...

I appreciate the effort here and that’s certainly more constructive.

I like the 6-tiers. You can quibble endlessly, but I think it’s pretty good breaks. The franchise/elite/starter/1a/1b and elite/solid top hotl are tricky, but that leaves room for discussion. For instance, Marleau hit 500 goals and 1200 points, that’s got to be elite. If Smith (our 2nd or 3rd best prospect ever) had Marleau’s career (with a cup in SJ), we’d be thrilled with that.

By the career numbers, he's elite. But if you look at peak and prime, he's lacking. A few top-10 Selke finishes, and two seasons where he was top-10 in scoring aren't much to brag about considering the company he wants to be in.

Pavelski at least has the AS nod and a few seasons where he was top-10 in points.

That said, if Smith can have a career where the overall value is similar to Marleau's (maybe a faster start, and more peak/prime production), I'd be ecstatic.
