Generally, what is the minimum height player the Kings should acquire for high impact positions??

As a tall guy myself you have no idea how many close someone’s head could be so close to your forearm or shoulder. Especially in hockey when players lean. A lot of the headshots are also because lizotte is extremely short compared to other players so his head is going to be much more likely to be hit because shoulder into the chest or shoulder on shoulder isn’t really a thing when there’s a big gap
I'm 6'1". I may have an idea.

I'm not sure if you misunderstood my post as I was not asking for a team of Lizottes any more than you were asking for a team of Byfields.

I do want a team of Lions though, mostly so when one scores 3 goals I can throw raw meat on the ice instead of my favorite hat.

Agreed. Stay away from all three of those guys.

FIlip Forsberg has won 3 of his last 17 playoff games. He has 6-4-10 in those games.

Gaudreau has 11 goals in 42 playoff games.

Debrincat has only played in the playoff once, scoring 2 goals in 9 games.

Here's the other thing - and Kings fans really ought to understand this.
Forsberg is almost 28. He's getting 7 years, minimum.
Gaudreau is almost 29. He's getting 7 years, minimum.

Debrincat, at least, is only 24.

The UFA I'm looking at for the Wings is Mason Marchment.
6'4. 18 goals in 55 games or something..
Marchment screams flash in the pan to me.

Never produced at this rate in any leauge up to this point, 27 years old for his first breakout year, good-not-great numbers, and enough size to entice a GM to overpay.

He looks like a 2-3 million dollar 3rd line guy, about to get paid like a 4-5 million dollar top-six guy thanks to a career year playing Florida fire wagon hockey.

The guy who, now 27 years old, before this season, could barely crack a lineup? And the team he happened to be on was the one that averaged the most goals per game since the 95-96 Penguins? And had 1 whole goal in the playoffs?

Talk about flavor of the month.

Oh don't worry there will be plenty of those to go around this offseason

who is gonna save the GMs from themselves this July

Yes! Meth and coffee before each game
No, Sudafed and Coffee like Long Time Kings Defenseman Stephane Quintal.

CBC Sports · Posted: Mar 22, 2005 11:24 PM ET | Last Updated: March 23, 2005

Los Angeles Kings defenceman Stephane Quintal figures nearly half of NHL hockey players using are using some kind of stimulant.

Quintal said he believes 40 per cent of the players he's encountered have used stimulants, while some of the game's tougher players â primarily fighters â have been on steroids.

Quintal took part in a book launch for Memoires d'Un Dur a Cuire (Memoires of an Enforcer) on Monday. Written by La Presse journalist Mathias Brunet, the book chronicles the hockey career of Dave Morissette, a former NHL tough guy, who alleges the use of stimulants is rampant in hockey. Morissette also admits to using steroids.
Quintal, 36, reportedly told Montreal's La Presse that he regularly used stimulants such as caffeine and even Pseudoephedrine and that the cardiac arrhythmia he suffered four years ago was likely caused by it.

Having said that, he is a proponent of severe penalties for drug use. similar to the two-year suspensions doled out in Italy.

The magic ingredient in Sudafed(Pseudoephedrine)is one of the ingredients in meth ( I have seen Breaking Bad 84 times)

We all know Kings got pushed around by Kane, Nurse and Kassian.

In Ontario, Turcotte and Hickey were lit up with cheap plays at the end of the year.

Kings know they are soft and hopefully will address this.

That is one area of concern, and while not as crucial as adding goal-scoring it is one that can be addressed by 1 or 2 small moves, which will almost surely be players 6'1 or bigger.

The goal-scoring concern on the flip side has never really been addressed and probably needs 1-2 bigger moves, which will almost surely be players under 6'1.

Yeah, teams aren't actively making available five tool players, of which there are precious few anyway.

I guess one could chase Malkin, although it's a late career gamble, or Wheeler who is rumored to be available but same.

Sign Deslauriers and don’t qualify Pepe. It’s better to have a guy who protects his teammates on the bottom six over a pest. Lemieux scored early in the year which inflated his perception.

But for multiple reasons he disappeared down the stretch. For me,,His biggest highlight as a king is punking Josh Manson, but I can’t remember if that happened this last season, or during one of the faker ones.

For the league, his top moment as a King is being a cannibal. Not stellar even after biting a dumbass like Brady Tkachuk.

Keep Lem chemistry important. he works too good with Lizzo.

Des. a good option potentially but -3/5 playoffs.

Real popular right now, anyone cheaper?

Someone with more of a potential playoff dual roll.

Tough and chip in, high quality on d type a little more.

Probably tough to find, you would have to successfully pinpoint the rough version and develop.

Colorado was smart adding the guy in your profile pic.

Played a majority of the regular season games for them.

He did make that chew toy cry on camera. May need to retire Lemieux's number for that.

It's not size...it's how you use your size. 5'7" Lizotte plays to 6'2" 210 (albeit because he's not, gets knocked down 1.25 times per shift) and the 6'4.75" Byfield is currently playing like 5'10"...and worse, he hunches over while skating and actually tries to be 5'10". He also looks no more than 200 lbs and has almost zero power to his game. The 6'3" 205 Kupari looks bigger and more powerful than QB and when he is physical, is at his best.

QB is going to have to bulk up this Summer and get to 225 and begin using his size and strength.

I remember when Barry Melrose wanted the Kings to be bigger and tougher after their Cup run in '93. Didn't work out quite well for him.

Colorado is the best skating team in the league. It helps to have size when you can outskate and outscore your opponents, but the Avalanche aren't a team of behemoths.

Their team average is 6' 1" and 198 lbs.

Only three forwards were above the team average, and of the dmen who were in the lineup (sorry MacDermid), only two were above 6'1", Josh Manson (6'3") and Erik Johnson (6'4").

In fact, the Avs had 12 regulars who were all listed at 6'0" and under.

There has been many phenomenal, championship winning hockey players, who are under 6ft tall.

That said, I do prefer a bigger roster, but nothing wrong with a few diminutive players. Ultimately it just comes down to how effective you are as a player.

Mike Richards is 5'11". So is Crosby.

You might want to take a look back what the Avs did to McDavid who counts as exceptional.

Most people think size has something to do with being a slow, stupid Ogre, which is far from true
We need to stick with Blakes vision of size and speed.

Keep going this diraction and don't trade for anyone under 6'0 is my vote

Maybe team discipline was more important?

I liked that description of both teams' game plans really. TBL knows they can simply overwhelm most teams and when they can't, they'll hang back, let Vas go to work, then wait for an oddman/rush chance where they know they can score.

I think the chip on TBL's shoulder got TOO big. Their belief in themselves is such a high level but that "we deserve to win" mentality turned sour in the last series, with Cooper's whining, looking for the refs to bail them out, Kucherov yard sale-ing his gear with 30 seconds left.
