All the impact players on the Avalanche are LISTED at 6' 0" or bigger except Makar at 5" 11" and he is a phenom.

The entire Tampa roster is LISTED at 5' 11" or bigger. Most all impact players except Point and Kuchie are LISTED even bigger.

Posters are discussing the Kings trading for or signing smaller players like Gadreau, Forsberg, Debrincat and others for impact positions.

Size matters all things being equal but if the Kings front office was like "well we could add a 100+ point player but he's the same size as Brayden Point so no" I'd be apoplectic.

Sure Mr. Coon that is why I qualified it with, " Generally". As with most all of your comments, I totally agree with your insights.

I don't disagree with your thought here at all really. I guess i"m just trying to illustrate that it would be tough to pass on talent over an inch or two. If anything, work on turning the Lizottes into Nichuskins rather.

There's a reason guys like Byfield are unicorns

Isn't Forsberg listed at 6'1 200?

P. Kane isn't huge & terrorized the league for a long time. That Hawks team did have plenty of size though.

You are correct. Yes I thought he was smaller. Maybe we should sign him. However, some players play like they are bigger, some play like they are smaller than what they are "LISTED" as.

Goalie at least 6'2"
Dman at least 6'1"
Center at least 6'1"
Winger at least 5'11" and 190 lbs, but rather 6'1" and 205 lbs or more.

It's not only height, but it's also weight/body structure. Alex Turcotte is listed 5'11" /185 lbs or Tyler Madden 5'11" /180 lbs vs. JAD 5'11" /195 lbs or Carl Grundström 6'0" /200 lbs.

I prefer bigger players, but but I have to say that if player is taller than 6'3" (~Jeff Carter's size), he is a little bit suspicious. Those bigger guys mobility and durability is questionable and it takes 4-5 years when they grow into their body. It's interesting to see how Samuel Helenius (6'6") and Andre Lee (6'5") development goes. Lee didn't score much in the AHL, but I liked him. I hope that marco Sturm gives him a fair chance to show his potential.

It's not just height / weight. It's the power game players on the AVS like Nichushkin, MacKinnon, Landeskog, Rantanen, Burakovsky have...in that order. The last 2, don't have a real power game, but use their size.
TB can't contain all of them. They can power their way through defenses. TB may have some plays / battles that they win, but very few.

Nichushkin is making an impact every shift. He bounces off opponents or just turns away and makes a play or move to the net. He's the #1 FA prize. Gaudreau was contained and largely (no nun intended) ineffective vs the Oil. Forsberg is no slouch, but not sure if he's a game breaker. I imagine Avs trading a few away, just so they can resign him.

It's no mystery why TB attacked Makar (shttty hard crosscehck by Palat) in front of the goal and like 3 of them tried to kill Nichushkin in the last 5 minutes. I'd actually scratch Cogliano (not that he's bad...but his hand is not 100%) and put Macdermid in next game. Stop the BS immediately...especially if he's more of an aggressor, than protector. Have him beat on Stamkos . Point, Kucherov.

I wonder if Burakovsky will be out again. I would not mind him as a FA, if cannot get one of the top ones. He's a very good player and has size. He would have even made more of an impact, if not battling through injuries.

Agreed. Stay away from all three of those guys.

FIlip Forsberg has won 3 of his last 17 playoff games. He has 6-4-10 in those games.

Gaudreau has 11 goals in 42 playoff games.

Debrincat has only played in the playoff once, scoring 2 goals in 9 games.

Here's the other thing - and Kings fans really ought to understand this.
Forsberg is almost 28. He's getting 7 years, minimum.
Gaudreau is almost 29. He's getting 7 years, minimum.

Debrincat, at least, is only 24.

The UFA I'm looking at for the Wings is Mason Marchment.
6'4. 18 goals in 55 games or something..

There has been many phenomenal, championship winning hockey players, who are under 6ft tall.

That said, I do prefer a bigger roster, but nothing wrong with a few diminutive players. Ultimately it just comes down to how effective you are as a player.

Mike Richards is 5'11". So is Crosby.

Tie Domi, 5'8"
PJ Stock 5'10"

I worry less about the frame and more about the heart of the lion.

Step 2: Draft large players like Byfield.

Can't teach size.
Step 3: don’t draft players like Byfield just because they’re tall

Well hopefully you look closely into how Lizottes getting headshotted so often because he’s to everyone’s shoulder.

You should worry about the frame, just as much as the heart.

Ill make a poll:

Lizotte gets head shots because
A - He's short
B -He wont do anything about it
C -The Kings are Soft
D - B and C

I am going with D myself.

As a tall guy myself you have no idea how many close someone’s head could be so close to your forearm or shoulder. Especially in hockey when players lean. A lot of the headshots are also because lizotte is extremely short compared to other players so his head is going to be much more likely to be hit because shoulder into the chest or shoulder on shoulder isn’t really a thing when there’s a big gap
