I think the same way about myself. May be the magic we are watching it in the same time?i need to catch every utica game from now on if this is how he plays when i watch lol
1 goal 3 assists once they fix the assist on the first goal? Not on a PP unit either.
rochester didnt have an answer for him. in fairness, they didnt generate a ton the other way, so i wouldn't say nemo had to work particularly hard defensively this game. nonetheless i think he did a good job forcing attackers to the outside off the rush and clogging lanes up front. always room to play forecheckers even harder, but i cant really complain. in zone positioning progressing well even if its not 100% there yet, theres just much more purpose/intent to where hes going now. nice defensive stickwork as always, including man on man. once he set up for a breakout he was pretty much untouchableOther than the points, how does he look?

Offense is your best defense lol.The offense is good... but this team (NJ) needs DEFENSE. So I would like to know how Nemec is doing with that part of the game.
When you consider who he would be replacing, it really is a matter of puck control. At least 5v5, we should function with the puck so much better with Nemec in over Smith.Offense is your best defense lol.
I agree he should stay in the AHL. No need to rush him. When you consider who he would be replacing, it really is a matter of puck control. At least 5v5, we should function with the puck so much better with Nemec in over Smith.
The PK is a consideration though, but even there Smith is the 4th d-man. Could Nemec handle that role? I think that plays into not bringing him up to the NHL just yet.
Nemec has played the PK all year in Utica last year, he’s also done so in the Slovak program. And even if he struggles a bit, he’d be a net positive over Smith as far as I’m concerned. When you consider who he would be replacing, it really is a matter of puck control. I thought it would be a Jan-Feb call up. And I do think they will give Miller a shot, but if Miller plays poorly or if Nemec plays lights out, it could happen sooner.I agree he should stay in the AHL. No need to rush him.
Devils can use Nemec and Dougie in limited role in pk. They can dress Smith as 12th forward, they can use Lazar/Nosek/Bastian as 4th/5th pk defenseman. People are overreacting pk issue A LITTLE BIT, huge problem for now is 5vs5 control and offense. When you consider who he would be replacing, it really is a matter of puck control. I can def see Smith as 7th d-man/4th line fwd in order to handle some PK. At least until Nemec get's his feet wet, and prove he can handle some PK minutes.Devils can use Nemec and Dougie in limited role in pk. I mean they have opportunity and choice. Dont wanna use Dougie? You have Smith or bottom six forwards with good defensive game. And its not that hard and important than trying to build more stable and talented defensive line. Nemec shouldn't be top 4 defenseman from the beggining, he even shouldn't be regular nhler from the beginning. And I would prefer to try him now or in December, at least not in March.I can def see Smith as 7th d-man/4th line fwd in order to handle some PK. But they don't seemed too interested in Hamilton on the PK. To me it makes sense, especially since he is off the top PP and it seems his speed is more and more a hindrance 5v5, but so far the move to a more defensive focus has not been in the cards.
I think the offense at 5v5 is fine right now, the finishing is pretty bad though. In eegards to Nemec, he’d surely improve the transition game.Devils can use Nemec and Dougie in limited role in pk. I talked about offense overall. Nemec can help with transition of course. And his puck control and escaping by a pass is better than what Smith is doing. Smith is doing a lot of mistakes but im not ready to say that Nemec is positionally better, at least he isn't as experienced, but his backcheck is better and he covers more ice. Again, if he will continue to make a joke from ahl, I don't see a reason to not give him a try.I think the offense at 5v5 is fine right now, the finishing is pretty bad though. "Ever" is a long time. Right now you'd have to give Luke the inside track but Nemec was himself a high pick and will be given opportunities once he arrives. Whether he can run with that we will see. There's no way he'll ever be PP1 over Luke, right?
You never know, Nemec may be a better fit on the first unit where Jack and Bratt can handle all the zone entries. Luke could bring that element to the second unit while Nemec plays distributor from the point on the first. There's no way he'll ever be PP1 over Luke, right?
Yup. Nemec’s strengths are good ones for a PP QB. Wouldn’t be surprised if he end up QB’ing one of the 2 units. You never know, Nemec may be a better fit on the first unit where Jack and Bratt can handle all the zone entries.
