3.5 million in cap space and a possible 4th Best of luck

Hate to break it to you, but I doubt we take advantage of that cap space. We still have to re-sign Scuderi, so he'll probably take that 3.5. Difference is, we can re-sign Scuderi now because of this trade

Not too thrilled about this. He's healthy and, in my opinion, brings more to the table than Penner. Will trust Sutter's judgement though.

Great to get some cap space back. I wonder if we're doing a deal for a D-man soon, or if this is just a way of doing Gagne a solid. Likely the latter.

Just wondering about the salary cap, how can Philly afford Gagne? I checked capgeek and their cap space is at 0 lol. Thats without Gagnes 3.5M cap hit added on top of that. Is there some kind of amnesty/wiggle room since its a shortened season?

No it doesn't. Gagne was a UFA next year anyways, and any Sucderi contract extension wouldn't start until then. This only helps cap wise this season.

He was a good guy, but I'm not going to miss him(pretty handsome, too). At least he will get more attention in Philly.

They have guys on IR.

I'd guess the pick improves if Gagne performs well, or something like that.
