Player Discussion Simon Benoit discussion.

I know he didn't score, but that really felt like a bit of a Cory Cross moment for Benny.
Big, impactful moment from someone in the lineup you wouldn't expect to see it from.
Nope, THIS was his Cory Cross moment!!!

2001. Up 2 games to 0 on Ottawa, blew the 3rd period lead in game 3, went to overtime, and then this happened. I mean it's the exact same thing!!

I don't think he had a great regular season, at least compared to last year

But none of that matters now. We wanted players to step up in the playoffs, and he has done that and more. He knows that we need some puck moving skills from the blue line lol
Once we got rid of Timmins, he suddenly looked a lot better. I liked his game down the stretch.

Me personally I’d take Benoit over Holl

that’s just me though, everyone is entitled to a opinion.

Hey hey hey now, for one season Holl successfully mimicked a top four defenseman. Ignore that he was getting carried by Muzzin and playing against a bunch of crappy teams in an isolated division.

3 or 4 weeks ago I was chatting with some others here about how he wasn't in our playoff lineup.

He's turned things around massively.

I said at some point last season, I think there's actually some offense in him. He has the ability and instincts. Seems like he's starting to realize it.
Lets hope he keeps going and continues to get more confident with the puck and Berube gives him a few more offensive opportunities. Even if he doesn't put up a ton of points, its still nice to see that he's able to move the puck up the ice and make some plays rather than not know what to do with the puck when its on his stick other than getting it out of the defensive zone.

Its great to see him grow as a player and increasingly become more important to the Leafs defense not just as a tough Dman who can battle for the puck and lay some hits, but also with abit of offensive ability to his game. Lets hope he keeps improving his game because right now he's looked pretty damn good in the playoffs so far. 👍 👍 👍

Benoit has been playing great in the series. He has really stepped up his game. Great to see him be instrumental in the game 2 OT goal and score the winner in game 3. You never know who the playoff heroes will be and he has been that guy so far this year. Good on him and good on coach Bérubé for putting Benoit in those important moments.

Go Leafs Go.
