I say 2 x 2 contract.
He deserves a shot. I don't know how Komisarek gets more ice time than him. At least Franson treat the puck like a live grenade.

Carl Gunnarsson brings more to the table and he's getting paid $1.325M. 2 yrs/$2.4-2.6M.
This. The Leafs should stop overpaying bottom line talent. Other teams pay for stars; the Leafs distribute money across overpaid mediocore talent.
If Franson costs near or above 2 Million; let him walk.
4.5m over 3 years is as high as I would go.
Franson is a classic example of Leafs management not showing patience and respect for young players with a high ceiling and focusing on stop gap garbage that don't do anything.
Franson may not be great right now, but looking at who's on this team both from an AHL and NHL level, its mindblowing to think that management doesnt care more about keeping him.

Since Franson had signed in Sweden for the full year can Burke even re-sign him for this upcoming season?
I always thought Franson was under rated. I remember watching last year when they would put him on the power play the odd time and I swear he could hit the net way more often than Phaneuf. I don't know if stats actually correlate this, but it definitely seemed like he hit the net more to me.
I hope you realize that Gunnar is in for a big raise. He played top pairing minutes and performed well from a defensive perspective. Gunnar's current contract doesn't somehow set precedent for Franson's contract.
