2.5m a year for 3 years? Ummm, no. On the flip side, he is still a RFA and if he wants to play with Toronto and get an NHL salary he needs to sign what they offer because teams won't be lining up to offersheet him after his season last year.

I would say more along the lines for 1-1.3m on a 2 year deal. Closer to the 1m end.

21 points in 57 games, not bad i think. 40 points in 80 games i think, good

Possibly the same reason someone like Subban, MDZ and RoR weren't signed.

Personally I don't think Franson is going to play another game in a Leafs uniform. I don't think he is needed in the future and I don't think he wants to come back. But money is a driving force for many players and I think he would still come back to the Leafs and get an NHL salary rather than stay in Europe.

Schenn had a better points per game ratio when playing ES than Franson. Not all that good when one is considered a stay at home and the other is considered and offensive defenseman. Not to mention he was the most sheltered defenseman last year on the Leafs.

I think that Franson is going to be one of those players that won't get a chance here in Toronto but will go on to have a long somewhat succesful career elsewhere.

thats why schenn got 4mil. da

Thank god you started another thread for this.

It may have gotten lost in the other defense thread you started....where it belongs...

i see you like my threads, very interesting, good read, good topics, it makes you think.

I think he is worth more than a 1mill per year but maybe not as much as 2.5/year. I like him and would like to see him on the Leafs. Worse case scenario is he becomes a valuable trading piece down the road. Maybe something around 1.75/year.

The Leafs should stop overpaying bottom line talent. Other teams pay for stars; the Leafs distribute money across overpaid mediocore talent.

If Franson costs near or above 2 Million; let him walk.

4.5m over 3 years is as high as I would go.

i think we sign him to a short deal tell him that we will give him a shot to show what hes got then if he plays well we can sign him longer term a one year deal at 1.3- 1.5 wouldnt be horrible with the cap temporarily inflated this year
