Boston Bruins Sign Dalton Bancroft

Remember his father being a defenseman and a first-round flop for the Leafs.
He was part of the Bruins organization too. Toronto traded Bancroft to Boston for Rob Cimetta ( another former 1st round flop ) in 1990. Bancroft played 1.5 seasons for Maine before getting traded to Chicago for a pair of late round picks in 1992 and 1993.

Let's hope the kid has more of an impact in Boston then his Dad did.

They do- so many now stay in Jr till 20 before heading off to college. Which, incidnetally, is one of the interesting things about Dean Letourneau being an actual 18-year old freshman.

Shane Vansaghi becomes draft eligible this year and is a few months younger than Letourneau. He had 6G and 10A this year at Michigan St. That said was part of the NTDP but was considered a grinder type.

I am was not using that post to make some sneaky claim about Letourneau's quality as a first rounder, just that he is uncommon as a true freshman in these high profile programs. I am sure he isn't the only one.
