Post-Game Talk: Sid is a Venomous Beast that You Can't Kill with a Broom

For those who care about such things like me I'm pretty sure Sid got awarded another assist. That puts him I believe 9 points above Stamkos now.

Sid's biggest threat for the scoring race might just be Chris Kunitz right now .

+ Sid, Kunitz, Duper. Anyone who ever says Sid isn't a good two way forward deserves to get run over by a truck, have his corpse placed on train tracks to be run over repeatedly, then have whatever meat left on his bones be eaten by crows and hobos.

I hadn't heard anyone say that...wow...

- Letang, you suck balls on the PP. Inexplicable when we look at how good you are at everything else, but it is what it is.

Inexplicable is a great word for it. I do not know how someone that good, with that much skill, can be that bad on the PP. I just don't get it...

I was going to say Orpik deserved his own section below minus, but then I remembered Tanner Glass.

I continue to like Despres more and more every game. And I was a big fan of his going into the season. Needless to say, I hope he never sits again (I know he probably will next game).

I know Letang looked like crap on the PP, but he was downright amazing in every other aspect of the game. I'll take that crap from him on the PP cause we can eventually leave him on the bench. He was amazing defesnively tonight, and was creating offensively (minus the PP for some reason of course).

If I had heard Hughson do a non-Canucks game first, i would love him, but listening him do Canucks games on CBC for a few years just... I want to like him. He seems like a great guy. Has a good voice and a great flow to the game. But I HATE HIM.

Paul Romanuk is the best play by play guy in the business an it's not even close. To bad he now lives in Switzerland and only does the Spangler cup.

+ Nisky solid again. Had a few rough games after coming back from injury, but the guy can play, and I don't want him leaving for anyone unless it's a long term solution at wing.

Yeah, really liked Niskanen's play. He's just a very reliable defenseman.

My special minus goes to Brooks Orpik. You sir, better thank God that you're physical and can win board battles, because you literally have ZERO hockey sense. As worthless WITH the puck ANYWHERE on the ice as I've ever seen a defenseman be. You are a liability, and lord knows how many cycles are sustained for opposing teams because of your ineptitude. Your stick didn't break, it broke on purpose because it felt dumber being in your hands.

Absolutely he is incredible...but WHY can't he take that skill and put it to use on the PP...I just don't get it...

Good thing folks who know more about our prospects than I do say that we have a guy to QB the PP in Morrow...hopefully next year?

Steve

Rather Crosby be awarded another stanley cup+con smythe.:yo:

Yup, he was clinical today, the winning goal showed that perfectly.

Why not have it all? :).

You know what I would like? Neal or Kunitz to get a rocket. How effing sweet would that be?

And speaking of rewards the Pens could be looking at a Norris, Ross/Hart/Lindsay, and possibly a Richard as well. Then hopefully a smythe and a cup to go with all that. How spoiled we are as a fan base. I hope everyone truly appreciates what they are watching night and night out.

Mentioned this in the GTD, but want to repeat:

watch Kunitz in every zone. He's playing magnificent hockey. He's not mailing it in just because he's scoring.

+ Fleury. This is all I want to see. The goal wasn't his fault, and he made 3 other big stops THAT EVERY GOALIE WORTH A DAMN NEEDS TO MAKE FOR HIS TEAM. Good for him.

+ Despres with over 18 minutes.

+ Nisky solid again. Had a few rough games after coming back from injury, but the guy can play, and I don't want him leaving for anyone unless it's a long term solution at wing.

+ Engelland's actually been pretty good every since I was calling for him to be benched. He's had a good stretch of games.

+ Sid, Kunitz, Duper. Anyone who ever says Sid isn't a good two way forward deserves to get run over by a truck, have his corpse placed on train tracks to be run over repeatedly, then have whatever meat left on his bones be eaten by crows and hobos.

+ Letang, for everything he does BESIDES the PP.

- Letang, you suck balls on the PP. Inexplicable when we look at how good you are at everything else, but it is what it is.

- Glass, Adams. Adams is actually only worth his salt in the last minute of a game. He always comes up with a big block or play. Glass may be as worthless a player as I've ever seen.

I haven't seen you display this kind of affection for a Penguin since Guerin retired.

EDIT: So, you're good now with Sid's RW for the playoffs, right? :)

That sounded like a not so thinly veiled gratuitous pot shot at someone.

I was with you until the "hobos" part.

That's just not right...

He did **** up on the Leafs goal. He had Bozak tied up going going to the post, then Kunitz spun off him and Bozak was all alone for the easy PB special.

Oh. No, it's not a shot at Neal. I see how it could be taken that way. But if Neal takes it that way, it's only because he's not playing as well in all 3 zones as Kunitz is.

Well, crap. Can I get a redo?

- Kunitz: **** Kunitz.

;)

KIRK, I'll split a whole bottle with you if it makes that happen

1. You're on.

2. This post needs to be repeated:

+Orpik for making sure the PK doesn't allow goals by taking himself off of it

:)

I don't see how you can compare the play of two players in all three zones if only one of them consistently plays in all three zones.

I agree that we're lucky, but easy, easy with that talk.

Not to mention when he hits someone along the boards to get a turnover it is usually with a resounding thud. One of the hardest hitters in the league this #14.

+ Winning close games

- Zzzzz.

- Canadian announcers do more to make people hate Crosby than Crosby. On the play where Kunitz brought the puck in, passed to Dupers and he scores the 2nd goal of the night... all they talk about afterward is Crosby, who didn't actually touch the puck, and how he's responsible for the goal. And then give him the first star while Fleury had 29 SV out of 30 and Dupers had two clutch goals. No wonder people hate us; it's not us it's the fricking Canadian "Golden Boy Media Syndrome".

- Orpik, Kennedy, and everyone else who needs to be traded / make room for new blood.

Yeah, I think they had them backwards. Fleury should've been 1st, Dupuis 2nd, and Crosby (or Kunitz) 3rd.

Nope.

Dupuis is a very, very good hockey player, and I appreciate all the work he does in both zones, and very much appreciate how often he scores goals. The man is a good hockey player.

However, in the first two periods he also butchered a few opportunities for the line as a whole by flubbing a few pass attempts, receptions, and getting some big time tunnel vision while Kunitz and Sid were open.

My argument to the ones that want Dupuis on that line is this: Think about how much more dominant that line would be as a whole with someone with a little more puck skill on it. How many 2 point nights for Sid become 3 or 4 point nights?

My fear will always be much of what we saw tonight: A team zeroing in on Crosby, containing him, and just taking their chances with the other two.

Edit: And my other fear is what Shero MAY be fearing. He picks up a winger, Dupuis gets dropped down to a third line, and that winger takes a while to find some chemistry with Sid, or doesn't find any at all. Then it's "You had a guy on pace for 30 goals, and you traded assets for someone you didn't need!!!" from the genius Pittsburgh "hockey" media.
