Bobrov deserves just as much or more blame for the Lias pick. He’s the Euro head scout.
I said it a year or two ago, but they should just flex their financial muscles and steal Ottawa’s scouting staff. The world knows I’m not a huge fan of Brady Tkachuk as a top 10 pick, but they do incredibly well finding good players outside of the first round. Then again, maybe more money ruins that magic, but this is all wish-casting and we probably won’t find out either way

Just to be clear, are we firing Clark for Lias or are we firing him for Miller, Lundkivst, Kravtsov, Chytil, etc?

I think Clark has a very good overall record, IMHO he (or the Rangers with him in charge of the amateur scouting) is in the top 1/3 in the NHL. I also don’t think Andersson’s pick was a bad one in itself given the circumstances, and if anything, the blame would need to go to Gorton himself for rushing the prospect along from SHL to AHL to NHL.

With that said maybe a change in the guard is not that bad of an idea. Clark is getting pretty old so maybe letting him retire (not fire) is the way to go.

We need good players. Nationality doesn't matter

We need tenacious players with some balls that aren't afraid of the blue paint.
I'm not saying that EU is absent of that but who's coming from Europe to provide that?

It's pre- programmed in NA DNA..

Should’ve been Andersson, but c’est la vie

this board makes me laugh...3 months ago, the rebuild was over. everything was amazing and we had just completed the fastest rebuild ever...now everyone sucks and needs to be fired.

some of the points being made are completely valid, but I think we need to stop with the notion that anytime something doesn't work out heads need to roll and JD needs to step in. this is how a rebuild goes, not everything is going to work out. that is why we have stockpiled so many draft picks and prospects. they won't all work out, you just hope that enough do. it sucks big time when a key pick doesn't work out, but overall I still think things are looking pretty good for our future.

also the 'trying to be the smartest guy in the room' thing anytime they don't pick the player you wanted makes me want to stab myself in the eye...not that they do or don't do it, that people keep repeating it :naughty:

People get on my back but at least I'm consistent in always being Squidward.

"This board" you're calling out the whole board as believing the rebuild was done?

Good post. Too much, sky is falling nonsense.

Not every pick and prospect pans out. That’s just wishful thinking. That’s why it’s important to stockpile those young assets, which is exactly what Gorton has done.

I’m very excited about the next wave of kids that are going to be coming up soon. If a full blown rebuild took just 2 years to complete, every team would embrace it.

Gorton and JD have both been hellbent on using the word patience during almost every interview. That’s not by accident. There’s a damn good reason why.

Personally, I’m enjoying the ride. Seeing guys like ADA, Chytil, and Fox develop is exciting. Kakko is going to be a beast in a few more seasons.

This is just a fraction of the young talent we have in our system.

i'm not calling anyone else. settle down

Outside of a lunatic fringe, no one with any common sense could ever believe this. Now the way the coach is going about things is a different story

I agree with those saying we need to draft more North Americans , specifically Canadians. Need them to win. Even the Euro/American caps wouldn’t have a cup without Wilson, the grittiest, Canadianest player in the league .

We need good players. Nationality doesn't matter

My wanting CHL players has 0 to do with nationality, has to do with the size of rink, style of play and schedule of the north american game vs others. I just feel they are more ready for the nhl in most cases, especially the mid range players who have been grinding it out their whole career in an nhl rink. I also include college players in that, I mean if they are obvious picks sure but I would like more CHL players on the team. Sometimes it's hard to predict how a player will adjust to all the newness of the nhl.
I mean if Kravtsov, Andersson and Kakko cant adjust to the nhl the rebuild is set back a couple years. I still have faith Kravtsov and Kakko will be fine but who knows.

Wait till Kakko finishes transitioning from a boy to a man. His European ass is going cause nightmares for the opposition in those dirty areas you’re thinking about. ;)
