I was just about to make a thread with a poll :(

Figured it was about as good a time as any to start this thread. Keep the discussion civil please.

Rangers draft history: New York Rangers Draft History at hockeydb.com

Hired in September 2002, Scotland's greatest hockey mind has been running the Rangers drafts since, I believe, 2007?

Rangers Name Gordie Clark to Scouting Staff

Personally I think it's been long overdue for the Rangers to part ways with Gordie. What say you, fellow Rongos fans?

Same, he should take over. Firing Clark for this is an overreaction due to the moment but Bobrov should be taking over for Clark sooner rather than later
Not really IMO. I have (unfortunately) fired hundreds of people the past 35 years for doing things less obvious (or with mediocre results) than his mismanagement. You wanna talk about insensitivity, unprofessional conduct and old school mentality? Then this your guy. If not, well Keep him then...

If we are for me it should be because we haven't drafted much from Canada and have been drafting across the ocean to try and turn this thing around. It's more of a gamble because the game is different here, the schedule is different, everything seems different and some players have a hard time adjusting. Draft more Canadian hockey league players.

I'm not well versed enough on scouting to say whether he's really done a good, bad or indifferent job, and I'm not convinced that our player development pathways are all that great which makes it even harder to judge; but 12 years in one position is a long time for anyone so if there are suitable candidates to take over out there, I wouldn't be horrified if he was moved on.

He's found a lot of solid NHLers, but some of the misses have been pretty ugly, and some of the selections have been 'interesting' based on perceived talent levels.
If the stories about him not wanting Andersson at #7 but being overruled are true then it is all a bit more concerning because I really can't see the point of having a head scout if you just ignore his advice/opinion on what was a pretty important pick

Where did you see this?

Yeah I don't believe that to be the case at all.

Gordie always has final say on who they're taking. They had the right guys targeted that year, but they tossed Lias ahead of others whom they really shouldn't have (Necas, Suzuki, etc.)

Why is Quinn absolved? He gave Smith more time, and Haley also! He sent down Chytil, until had no choice but to call him up and now hes playing fine.
Kratsov, now Andersen??!!! And KK is playing terrible atm...

Quinn is giving Fast top 3 minutes?
Listen this coach wants to win now, hes not interested in "coddling " and developing young players.

This organization has some serious issues

I agree that he hasn’t always done the best thing he could have done, but development isn’t just giving players a lot of minutes because they’re young

I think one issue with Clark is that he falls in love with a certain type of player(grit) and he picks them way too high like Mcilrath and Lias.
