Should try, I mean really try to convert Eller to winger

He should be tried on the Right Wing. As a sniper/scorer/banger, not on the Left Wing. I don't believe he's got that much play making abilities so on the left all he is, is a big defensive winger, which is pretty useless imho.

every time he's been tried on wing, eller was a major, huge, gigantic, explosive diarrhea-size disappointment.

for a winger, he's got the size and skill for it, but just can't seem to do anything with it. at this point. 3c is his thing and that's good. rejoice, we got a great 3c for "derp derp im good im bad" halak

**** it, trade him for a coach that'll get us to 2nd in the east! :flex:

I agree. And wether we trade Eller or Pleks, we'll regret it to a point. Although the return for Pleks would be very very high right now. In the offseason a team like Anaheim or Chicago would be all over us for either one. And IMHO, from what I've seen of MB thus far, he'd probably pick to move Plekanec, especially with Galchenyuk waiting in the wings, to get that coveted big winger. That is, unless he pulls off a miracle to resign Vanek. Then all bets are off.

Trading Pleks would set this franchise back for many years. If Pleks is traded without landing a top 2 line centerman then Bergie should be fired on the spot.

I doubt that happens, both Bergevin and Therrien seem to be in love with him.

It disappoints me how some people are willing to deal Eller, Pleks, move Galchenyuk to wing all the while leaving DD as is.

If we get rid of Pleks/Eller and move Galchenyuk all so DD can keep his spot.....I don't even know what to say.

Our only choices are as follows..

1) Move Eller to the wing
2) Keep Chucky on the wing..
3) Trade one of DD, Pleks or Eller

Are we seriously talking about keeping Eller as a 4th line centermen? Don't people want to see Chucky play down the middle.

If Eller is our 4th line center, I'd rather see him traded and get back something useful. If he doesn't get us any value back then I guess he gets misused on the 4th line.

If it comes to option 3 it's clear to me that the odd man out of is DD simply because he competes for the same minutes that we want to giving Galchenyuk. Both Plekanec and Eller would make a better #2 behind Galchenyuk because of their defensive acumen.

I'm far from DD's biggest fan, and in fact I absolutely love Eller, but DD is a #1C who makes his wingers better, and is only .14 GA/60 minutes less defensively skilled than Plekanec; really, no one but Price and maybe Subban is more valuable to the Habs.

#amidoingitright?

DD's dirt cheap and is getting the job done as a first line center. He's not going anywhere. We'll see how he does in the playoffs but IMO he's redeemed himself and some.

Moving Eller from center will lose us some size in the middle but he would be replaced by Galchenyuk so it's not much a loss.

I don't want to trade any of DD, Pleks or Eller (don't even have to mention Galchenyuk) so to me moving Eller to winger makes the most sense.

The most he's played at winger was in his first few seasons. He's barely played there in these last 2.

He would need time but I refuse to believe that after 40 games of being on the wing consecutively he wouldn't get any better. Like I said, it would take time but it could end up being huge.

Why people would want to trade him now is absurd. His trade value has to be pretty low. Plus we could get him quite cheap for a couple more years considering his poor season. Some players just have off years. He could very well end up going the AK46 route but I think he's better than that and has more CHaracter (had to).

I'd much rather try DD at wing than Eller.

So you would be fine with having Galchenyuk as the 3rd line center instead of Eller and playing with guys like Bourque, Moen, Prust as his wingers?

Eventually Galchenyuk will center one of our top two lines.

Pleks would be our 3rd line center. You can double shift him and what not so as not to lose out on his minutes.

It's tricky what to think we'll do with DD but for now he's forming an excellent 1st line at a bargain price. MB's looking pretty good on that deal right at the moment.

Moving DD to winger is an option but he really seems to be doing well as is. Eller just seems the better candidate to move to winger.

And just to be clear, I'm proposing this happens next year. Not right now. Galchenyuk will eventually develop his defensive acumen. Can't say for sure how high it will be but it has been developing and it was advertised to be pretty high at his peak.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Eller packaged up at the draft/offseason for top pairing defenseman or top 6 forward.

I thought Eller would develop into a good 2nd line center, but being more realistic, I think he could still be a good 3rd line center. But so could Bournival. Bournival could really be an ideal 2 way third line center, and if Eller can't develop into a top 6 forward, I think the best course of action would be to package him up to bring in a need.

Ok, so 2014-15 rolls around, and Eller is on the wing; who are your #1, #2, and #3 Centers? :)

So Galchenyuk, the player usually characterized as being the worse defensive forward on the Habs, is our new 3rd or 4th line Center?

yep. that's exactly what i mean. Except just 4th line center. Galchenyuk should never center a line in our top 9 or I'll call for MB's head.

They might ease Galchenyuk in on the 3rd line...

Hmmmmmmmm.....
