For sure, I accept that a lot of people don't care about it - there's a whole lot of things I don't care about too. I can't think of any right now because I don't care about them. But strangely you don't see me going to the off-topic board seeing stuff I "don't care" about saying "most people don't care about this!" The people who do do - the people who don't don't. They're not the ones being surveyed here, because they don't care.

Sorry, of course you're completely right. I mean it's evidently to me now that I was so blind that I couldn't see all that thousands of people that goes on every women game all around the world and all those hundred of millions who just have burning desire to see such games on TV screen.:sarcasm:

And yet, people who "don't care" about women's hockey seem to voice their opinions about how undesirable, wreck-worthy, and atrocious it is. Can you tell me why or shall I stick with my existing assumption?

They're just trying to explain to you why exactly most people have no interest to women hockey.

Back to the topic: no, I don't want to force women's tournaments anywhere. I actually don't care a lot in the grand scheme of things - I like playing and I'm happy to see the ladies playing against people all over the world, but I'll never be pro more than you will, so you know - let 'em play *shrug* The question is, could attendance be increased by convenience? I think the answer is yes, because, in my opinion, MOST of us are creatures of habit/custom and do what's easiest/marketed most effectively. But maybe I'm just lazier than most.

What convenience? If women's tournament were played a week before men's tournament in same place it would change nothing. Actually it could be detrimental to attendance as some people who in other case could go on such games would probably prefer wait and go on men's games instead. If women's tournament were played simultaneously with men's tournament and women's games were played right before men's games in same arenas it could theoretically increase such attendances. Not by very big margin, but it's possible. But it could never happen because schedule restriction. Men's tournament already have too many teams and games and there is just absolutely no place for more.

The question is, would people who enjoy all hockey be more likely to go to more women's games if they were more conveniently timed/located, such as beside men's games?

Way to view things in context, you hypersensitive weirdo.

men fill up arenas to watch terrible echl and high school teams but cross their arms and sneer at the suggestion of watching women's hockey

This is the statement I responded to, saying:

Virtually all of those teams would wreck the Canadian womens' Olympic squad, and they involve hitting, so...

It's almost like people prefer to watch not only better quality hockey with a physical element, but hockey that is also heavily representative of a school or a city!

Would more people go to womens' games if they bent over backwards to structure their schedule/season around mens' hockey? Maybe, I have no idea. But that's not the sentiment I was engaging.

It's embarrassing that we get people in high places who say the right things about promoting women's sports in general and yet we have the IOC who have considered getting rid of women's hockey all together...Just mind boggling really. I don't think we all realize how far women's sports in all genres has progressed up to this point. Just because certain countries get creamed in the Olympics doesn't mean we should just shame the sport and get rid of it...Find better ways to get other countries to invest in it. You can't go back now.

The thing is that other sports are kept out of the Olympics for suffering the same problem that women's hockey does (ie only two nations has a chance to win it).... so it's not like that was uncalled for (at least if the IOC are to follow it's own standards).

Anyway, the quality of the play in my experience are not that important as long as you actually root for the team. I gladly paid for a ticket to watch the local team cruise their way to the title with their 41st straight home win (yeah, the domestic league in Sweden for women is that loopsided). So did some 3 000 other people.

If you don't root for the team however, how interesting it is can go downhill rather quickly. This could of course be a matter of selling it to the people. Few people in Sweden cared about the WJC before media told us how great it is (I once heard that the exact same thing happened in Canada once upon a time).
