I don't enjoy West Coast trips as I don't have it in me to stay up and watch them.

I also think 8 games against all the division teams is too much. If they want to make it five or even six, maybe.

Also like the "old" division better than this year's lineup.

Guys it wouldnt be literally like baseball. Its only 82 games. Total amount of games vs division teams would be like 1 series in MLB.

If the Yanks and Sox played 1 series per season no one would want to miss it.

It also wouldnt be "forcing" anything it would be playing more meaningfull 4 pt games with real playoff implications.

NHL should go back to home whites, so fans can see jerseys from all over the league instead of just blue vs white every game

I think they should just give the home teams more leeway. Let them submit a "schedule" before the season of what games they will white for and what ones they want their opponents to wear white.

I like divisional games, I really do but they lose all appeal when it's just divisional games and I want to see teams I rarely see. Plus if a team out of division is having a great season, I want to see how the Rangers stack up and not have to hope they meet each other in the playoffs. That's something that's great about the NHL that's missing in the NFL.

the other problem with a division heavy schedule is the wild card...this year its fine cause the playoffs are the top 4 teams in the division. But in a normal year the wild card means that if you aren't in the top 3, then you are competing with the other division in your conference. so if you want to be 'fair' shouldn't those teams be facing the same opponents more or less?

You're still laying a different schedule that other divisions.

I think if you adjust the reg season schedule to be more division centric, then you have to go back to the old divisional playoff format and for me, that would be a dream come true.

My enjoyment of watching western conference hockey is gained by watching western conference teams playing each other.

I have no care if any one player from the western conference makes an appearance in MSG or not.

Yeah, f*** those west coast trips. I'm actually a night owl but f*** 'em anyway.

I've never seen Liverpool play a competitive match at night and I can't say I miss night games even half a percent.

Like I said, I'm a night owl so I like to get the sports out of the way and do my own thing. A night game is like "oh, I have to go home now." And when you're out west, you can't even sneak out after the game.

Wouldn’t mind facing only teams in the East. Don’t care for West — especially California and BC/AB — not least because of the time difference. Would be nice to build bigger rivalries within the conference and then leave some mystery for the playoffs.

The division heavy schedule is good. Division only wouldn’t be.

On a full 82 game schedule, we should play every divisional team 7 times. We should play every other Eastern team 2 times. We should play every Western Conference team once. That leaves one more game, which should be against another divisional rival.

Obviously, the Canadian division shouldn’t be a thing long term.

A conversation I once had with a friend:

Them: "Wanna do something today?"

Me: "No, Liverpool's on."

Them: "So? It's one game."

Me: "We're playing Manchester Untied."

Them: "Ok..."

Me: "Would you ask me to do something on Christmas?"

Them: "well, no..."

Me: "Well this is more important than Christmas."

The moral of the story is, rivalries are worse with a lot of intimacy.

Hockey obliviously has a different schedule but I would go 4 the most.
Good thing you have an adorable husky (my favorite breed). Otherwise, as a Chelsea supporter, I’d have to write you off.

... though these days aren’t the best for admitting you’re a Chelsea supporter.

Do fans not watch road games on TV? This seems like a viable argument 60 years ago.

Well, ideally they move away from the outdated coloured vs whites approach since you can have different coloured jerseys on the ice but that isn't happening any time soon.

Imaging the Rangers vs the Flyers. Blue vs Orange. No reason to have one team in whites other than "nostalgia"

If they really stick to the coloured vs whites approach, wouldn't it be more fun for fans to see different jerseys on the ice each time they visit the Garden?

Not particularly. Again, though, I don't care about the other teams. They could all wear gray for all I care. Seeing the Ranger blue live is good since they don't show in that real color on TV from the long camera view.

It's because it's easier for the equipment managers not to have to carry multiple different types of jerseys on road trips. It's not going to change.

As for whether or not it would be more fun...I don't think it makes a difference at all. I'm there to watch a hockey game not to ogle at the jerseys.

Certainly seems that way. I’m just annoyed that we poured a fortune into getting Werner, a guy who scored 30 goals in the Bundesliga last season as a counterattacking striker, just to play him as an LW in a Guardiola-like system or, when Lampard does play Timo as a striker, feed him crosses. Such crap management. Even Quinn would know better!

Sometimes I think we're a bit too passive in the market but I like that we exclusively do business with guys Klopp has a plan for.

It's like the grit and character thing. It's nice in theory, but tell me exactly what Quinn wants to do and how the player accomplishes that. That's something I think the Rangers could stand to improve.

Like, Johnson always felt like a "hey here's a veteran" signing and Trouba sort of felt like a "hey this guy is available" acquisition, although I haven't given up on him. Lindgren seems to have fit the whole "tries hard but doesn't suck" spiel so I'll give them that.

Fully agree with that assessment. And I get that you want a veteran player. Fine. But make him a seventh defenseman and double shift either CK (who has the endurance) or Panarin (with the skill) — or, at best, a sixth defenseman with severely sheltered minutes. And even then! What’s so great about experience if it doesn’t come with accomplishments?

Candidate: “Yes. I would like to apply for the head equities trader. I have over 20 years of experience.”
Recruiter: “And what was your ROI during that time?”
Candidate: “-5% ... but I am very experienced.”
