Marchand is a better fit I think to replace Marner, instead of Bennett replacing Tavares. Bennett's contract will be too expensive and too many years

Yes the Canes and Leafs need to team up to weaken the Panthers as much as they can.

The Canes should add Bennet/Marner and the Leafs should add Ekblad and Marchand.

They just need to agree to do everything they can to sign 3/3 out of Marchand/Ekblad/Bennet.

For the Leafs I don't think they'd necessarily be "better" losing Marner out of it, but it would be a lateral step while making the Panthers worse. Canes would definitely be better and with Florida worse it is possible they could be beaten.

They actually have more than that.

That 26 million includes both Reaves and Myers on the cap, but both will start in the AHL so It's actually about 28 million.

But to answer your question if he hits free agency damn right they should

Bennett plus Marchy plus a Maroon type of guy. Bottom 9 guys that will instill toughness.

And you need at least 3 puck moving D men to beat their forecheck.
