How is a top 5 defenseman not franchise altering? Was Karlsson not franchise altering despite the Sens missing the playoffs several times with him?
Because his teams never did anything of consequence with him as their best player. Weber was a rock solid steady #1 dman that played a particularly flashy game with big hits and massive shots from the point, but it never lead to anything meaningful.

Karlsson's play nearly won his team a cup in 2017. He tilted the ice for the Senators far more than Weber ever did for Nashville.

I think his best selling argument is 37th all time in playoffs points. I think he will get in. Kevin Lowe etc.
The problem is that if you actually look into his playoff resume it has some highs sure then a bunch of okay post seasons and then some crap post seasons.

Not a very compelling argument really.

I'm voting yes and I don't give a f*** how biased it is. You can't stop me.
2015-16 Sharks playoff legend.

I respect your stance and decision and gladly back it up. Not because I'm a Sharks fan because I'd rather die than be one, but because it's just the right thing to do.

Also because I know of the high level of futility that is because it won't ever happen, but I'm a Pat Maroon fan, so I will never throw stones at a player, unless they're scum.

Pavelski has been in two game 6’s SC Finals lost, was an all-star, was a silver medalist at 2010 Olympics and won a NCAA national championship with Wisconsin and won a championship at the USHL level with Waterloo and has a record of most playoff goals (74) by an American born player, besides that there isn’t much else to go on.

Great NHL career with 1,332 regular season games and 201 playoff games at a career 0.80 points per game regular season, also played in 17 KHL games with Dinamo Minsk during the 2012-13 lockout.

I would say yes to Pavelski going into the HHOF he almost made the top 50 goal scorer of all time, not bad for an American 7th rounder from Wisconsin.

I wish they'd remember that when Bondra came up for debate.
Preach brother. During the dead-puck era (94-04) Bondra was 2nd in Goals (behind only Jagr). He led the league in goals 2X and led the league in shorthanded goals over the same time span. He played with very few players who were considered "goal scorers" so where were the assists supposed to come from? He regularly had 25 more goals than his next closest teammate and was typically centered by the likes of Michal Pivonka and Andrei Nikolishin. With his speed and goal scoring instincts he would be among the leagues top goal scorers even today.

Eh, it's marginal at best. Weber was never a franchise altering player, and neither was Pavelski. No team was able to do anything of consequences with them as their best player.

Nope

And I was one pulling for him, I think he could easily play a few more years putting up 60-70 points which would have put him well past 500 goals and 1200 points

I like Joe Pavelski but all he has is longevity. He was never one of the best players on his position in the league. Frankly, for pretty much his entire career he was only the third best forward on his own team.

I'd argue that Zach Parise should have a better case than Pavelski. At least he was elite for a couple of years. Perhaps the best left winger behind Ovechkin between 2008-2010. I'm not saying Parise should get in either, but at least I remember him being a superstar at one point.

I don't really want Marleau in the Hall of Fame, but I know he'll definitely be inducted.

I certainly hope that you are wrong in part due to argument like the one that follows.
I'm not sure Marleau was a better player than Pavelski if you focus on their respective eight or ten year primes. I feel Pavs has the edge in the playoffs.

Pavelski probably wouldn't be the worst player in the Hall, but he would be in the bottom rung of inductees. I don't think he should or will be inducted, but I won't be shocked if he is..
I don't think that he will get in as there is going to be a large backup of players who look better every year than him so Hall of very good for me.

If Shea Weber and Jeremy Roenick are, then absolutely.
Weber was a top 5 dman for most of his career

Roenick was on another level

both deserving of the hof

you're post is so off base

Roenick got to the magical 500 goal number . It’s stupid and arbitrary but the Hall has numerical milestones they require
Roenick was a very good player and deserved to be in the hall of fame

Weber was overrated for his career and his peak was nothing special.

Roenick doesn't have a spectacular career. If that's the bar, it's a low one. That's my point.

Shockingly empty hardware collection for a 1000+ point player
That's my view on Marleau and people think he should be an HOFer lol. Pavelski absolutely deserves HOF, definitely over Marleau as well, but Thornton has the edge on Pavs anyways and they won't put 2 Sharks in anywhere close to each other unless they do some garbage like put Thornton and Marleau in together

you doing a laughing emoji literally shows you know shit about Hockey in the 90s

Roenick was a top 5 center in the 90s and played a very exciting game to watch.

I wish they would disable this trophy and emoji shit
