As others have alludes to baseball has a lot more inventory than the other big 4 leagues. Especially early season games outside of opening day.

The tweet says "best tickets available", which presumably means unsold inventory, A lot of regular season NHL games do sell out, so the likelihood of finding an actual seat in some buildings is low. So, if a person meets the requirements (hypothetically the 8 years for player/25 years for front office), the best they can reasonably hope for in some markets is a golden standing room ticket.

Yes multi millionaires definitely deserve more freebies, though I think it should be a government tax we all pay to allow them to not only get a free ticket but a free all expense paid vacation when they see the game

These guys make millions of dollars they can afford to buy a ticket. Why not give STH who own they 8 years straight a golden ticket? At least they payed into it vs got paid.

If the MLB wants to offer that, it's their choice. Going onto Twitter and asking for free stuff is pretty tone deaf on the part of Weekes.

My understanding is the MLB started this in like 1936 for former players. Obviously back then guys weren't making the kind of money they do today.
