Over 1000 points in the NHL. Fathered the two handsome devils Matthew and Brady.

He's also one of the top USA players ever.

Should Keith Tkachuk be in the Hall?

Discuss.

Who he fathered will not be factored into the discussion and is a silly theory to be put forward

that being said--I thought he was already in

Not before Theo Fleury.

Roenick got in despite winning “nothing”
I can see him getting in and making the online community angry about it because it’s what they do
JR made a final with Chicago early in his career but really nothing else close after that iirc. Did AZ ever go deep with him? Then he landed in StL. 1 final 4 appearance in 2001 after his trade to StL. At best RD 2 all other years.

They really don’t look at these things for hall of famers as much as they do online. I’m not saying Keith is a slam dunk and it makes sense if he’d have to wait 20+ years to get it in. JR making the finals once which most people probably forget or pulling up a bunch of hockey references stats is just always useless in these arguments. There’s plenty of players in the hall of famers with no hardware or cups in it. Some people just have their own criteria to make it where you need to have a Gretzky or Lemieux career to make it.

Players over 500 goals not in hall of fame
  • Pat Verbeek
  • Peter Bondra
  • Jaromir Jagr
  • Keith Tkachuk
  • Patrick Marleau
  • Sidney Crosby
  • Alex Ovechkin
  • Evgeni Malkin
  • Steven Stamkos
The guy was a menace and not afraid to play hard, Think he fits in, he's in a pretty elite group and I would argue his taking over games by himself at times sets him apart of a couple of the other 500 goal guys that arent in.
No idea on why you names Jagr, crosby, Ovi, Malkin and even stamkos here as Keith is closer to the other 4 guys who aren't in than he is to those 5.

There are worse wingers in the Hall but Keith's playoff resume is just really weak and he is 50/50 for me.

Also given how many great players there are to choose from every year his chances will diminish.

He has been retired for almost 15 years now so I think his ship has sailed.

Gartner and Andreychuck are in for their longevity.
Given the standards these days would not surprise to see him go in. Rather see higher standards but that’s not going to be the case.

No.

0 cups
O playoff MVP
0 RocketS
0 Hart trophies.

He won literally nothing.

The only argument for him is that the hockey hall of fame is incredibly easy to get into, the bar is so very VERY low.

He's not a Hall of famer but he probably gets in because the bar is so low.
Low enough to be a limbo bar.

Dick Duff won 6 Cups. 1,030 GP. 283G. 289A.

Where do you rank Keith versus Duff?

Only other guys there waiting is Verbeek and Bondra and it’s mostly because they are forgotten about. I don’t agree with this reason but I actually think Keith having two star sons in the league is helping him not be forgotten and a reason why he might get in.

Blues fan saying HELL NO.
He’ll get in when he buys a ticket. Guy was a choking dog.

My favorite moment of his career was when he, as a member of the Jets, high-sticked the Blues’ Brendan Shanahan who had to leave the ice to get stitched up. Shanny came back to start the next period pissed and went to let Tkachuk know. Tkachuk turtled on the ice like a little bitch trying to keep Shanahan from killing him. Total wuss of a power-forward. One of a handful of players to have “led” THREE different teams to playoff series losses after having a three-games-to-one series lead.

f*** that guy.

Lol. Using one incident, where Shanahan basically jumped Tkachuk from behind, as proof that he was a “total wuss of a power forward” is ridiculous. I’ll acknowledge Keith was my favorite player growing up, so I’m not unbiased, but part of the reason I loved him was because of how nasty his game was and how he defended his teammates. Fighting Derian Hatcher the very next game they faced each other, after Hatcher cheapshotted Roenick and broke his jaw (a big reason Phoenix got knocked out of the playoffs that year btw), was one example of many. He also had a ton of skill to go with that toughness.

I will agree with you on his lack of playoff success, was the biggest stain on his career. Though he did have some great individual playoff series and had the misfortune of being on Phoenix and St. Louis when that trio of Detroit/Colorado/Dallas went to the Finals every year. If that’s your criteria, then he shouldn’t get in. But like others have said, there are worse players in the Hall, and I think Keith’s at least comparable to Roenick.

There's plenty of more deserving players. Joe Pavelski for example has imho a better case. Tkachuk as a player won absolutely nothing . Didn't even play in a finals game .

Hoenstly hes lucky both his kids are in the NHL and well known players because for years nobody really brought questions like this up. Them being in the league has brought more attention to him not being in the HHOF IMO.

I personally dont think he has that great of a case but they've really watered down the hall in recent years so I wouldn't be shocked if they pick him some day.
