Didn't Tampa won b2b cups?

Boston has been contender since 2011 cup win.

Do I need to even start with Hawks?

You fine how Army has done with team after Cup run?
Boston hasn't won anything after 2011, 2011 also had most of their core players under 26. After their win they were early out or missed the playoffs in all but 3 years since

Tampa won back to back then started to fall steadily over the next few years. Lost in the finals, back to back first round exits, and currently only have 3 more points than us.

Hawks won 3 cups with Toews and Kane under 26 and on Sweetheart deals. And then after they extended within 3 years they plummeted into the basement.

We were a playoff team for for almost 11 straight years except for 2017-18 where we missed by one point and we were the best team in the league before the covid shut down. We're now on the 3rd core since 2011-12.

You simply have to catch up with the times. The cap ceiling is no longer 70m.
Kyrou is the 64th highest paid player in the NHL along with Thomas. There are 5 goalies with higher salaries. So he is 59th in skater salary.

This year he is tied for 52nd in points.
Kyrou was the 63rd highest point producer in a down year for him last season. Two years ago he was 49th.

I would say he is hovering pretty close to where he needs to be.

I don't think that's true at all. I'll wait for someone to show the stats of this.
There are only 17 NHLers with 40 or more goals last year. Only four of those players get paid 8mil or less this year. Stamkos who is getting paid 8Mil this year was getting 8.5 last season.

Hyman, Marchessaultt, and Boeser are the other three and outside of last year none of them have ever hit 40 before.

Forsberg, Crosby, Reinhart, and Drai are the only four others who get paid less than 9Mil. Drai starts making 14Mil starting next season. And Crosby is very superstitious about the number 87.

That leaves nine other players who get paid between 9-13.25mil in the league who scored 40+ goals last year.

The average cap hit for a 40+ goal scorer last year was 9.26. If you only average out the players who score 40-44 it's 8.5.

But Tarasenko got paid less 10 years ago for more goal

Stop. Just... stop.

Too much arguing.

Banny gets the axe, Monty comes onboard and the team suddenly improves and looks to be starting to gel, we are two points out of a WC spot... and folks are complaining?

Take a moment and enjoy the moment. It's nice to root for a team on the upswing. We might not see a lot of it this season, but savor it when it happens.

As for Kyrou, you'd think he was making 18m and not 8.125m like the way folks are going on about.

I think it's the fact that Kyrou and Thomas make the same amount of money, and so people see Kyrou as overpaid because he's not as good as Thomas. In reality, Thomas is underpaid and it's a fair contract for Kyrou.

That and some people cannot seem to grasp the idea that the cap ceiling goes up pretty much every year.

Here's the thing and maybe I'm the confused one: I don't see Kyrou and Thomas as the same type of player. They both perform different roles on the team and comparing one to the other is like comparing apples to oranges. Plus I don't feel enough credit is given to how much Kyrou's game and skillsets have grown since he started playing.

I'm not going to argue who the better player is at this point in the game (it's Thomas, come on now), but I think its foolish that we have to decide who is the best instead of enjoying that we have two players that are really damn good. Way Kyrou gets talked about is like he's the next Chris Stewart or something and that annoys me.
