Czechia, Germany and Switzerland have done better than Sweden and Finland last 3 years in international tournaments. Why is Sweden and Finland chosen ahead of those 3 nations?
Its not just about that. They don't have enough NHL players and you knew it before opening the thread.
Canada, usa, czech, Germans, Switzerland, Finland,4 was always a dumb number. Should have been 6 if you wanted a mini tournament.
Im aware that Sweden and Finland have more Nhlers. But its just not about that. Czech, Germany and Switzerland had more sucess last years, does that not count? Should they not be rewarded? And do Sweden have any players of the level of Draisaitl, Stutzle and Pastrnak? I think not. This is dumb, even for the OP.
Russian Ice Hockey Federation leadership is sanctioned by the US and Canadian governments, there's absolutely no way the NHL is going to entertain any cooperation regardless of what the Finns and the Swedes do.Russia should be reinstated. If Sweden or Finland are against it, they can play Estonia and Latvia and be happy
So you want a three nations cup. Russia, us and Canada?Russia should be reinstated. If Sweden or Finland are against it, they can play Estonia and Latvia and be happy
how about nobody plays russia and we are all happy?Russia should be reinstated. If Sweden or Finland are against it, they can play Estonia and Latvia and be happy
Works for meSo you want a three nations cup. Russia, us and Canada?
Why? What has changed since they were first banned?Russia should be reinstated. If Sweden or Finland are against it, they can play Estonia and Latvia and be happy
NHL could easily work around that, they can call the team “Russian NHLers” and comprise the team of the NHL players only.Russian Ice Hockey Federation leadership is sanctioned by the US and Canadian governments, there's absolutely no way the NHL is going to entertain any cooperation regardless of what the Finns and the Swedes do.
They should not have been banned in the first place. Israel is allowed to play so I’m no longer taking your reasons for the ban and I’m stopping the political discussion. Why? What has changed since they were first banned?
Cool, so they'll stay banned.NHL could easily work around that, they can call the team “Russian NHLers” and comprise the team of the NHL players only.

Politics aside.. I would watch that tournament. Russia is clearly on the rise based on the draft picks and guys coming through and all 3 nations hate each other on the ice. It'd be fun. About as likely as Czechs winning the 4 nation cup though.Works for me
Sure they could, but the Russian authorities would be sure to forbid players joining any foreign-operated national team.NHL could easily work around that, they can call the team “Russian NHLers” and comprise the team of the NHL players only.
