Should Cronin be Fired?

I don't think we can truly know how Verbeek thinks/thought about last year. Clearly he wasn't totally thrilled with Cronin because he had to tell Cronin to dial it back.

That said, Zegras is the worst example to use to point out Cronin's failures... Zegras has missed over 70 games in the last two seasons. Even if Cronin was a great coach, there's hardly been enough time to assess Z's progress or lack thereof.

We have video of Verbeek being happy with the culture, the compete, and the work ethic. You can look up the 2024 STH Migration event; it's on YouTube. And Verbeek was excited to know the team will be better for it in year 2.

With Z, I did identify his "pre-rookie season" of 24 NHL games. He didn't play 24 contiguous games in the NHL. Z was called up on two different occasions, first to play wing at the NHL level and later on to play center. One would believe that Z in year 4 and 5 of the NHL would be better than year 1 of the NHL. Also, I did include Drysdale and an extension to Cronin's influence. Drysdale put up a higher scoring rate than Z under Cronin.

I can only lead you to facts. If you wish to continue to deny them, then there will be no point of this conversation going forward.

Multiple veteran players have now spoken out about how much he sucks.

If the players don't respect you then you have no chance to succeed as a coach

It's kind of true though. What he's saying is what we all know: our forward lineup is bad.

He puts him with Frank and Fabbri and the line just bleeds chances.

All these guys would have trouble cracking a playoff team lineup. They are all in our lineup together on a regular basis.

In my opinion an important trait to have when in a coaching position is tact, referring to your 3rd overall pick as a bottom 6 player isn't a good boost of confidence. I also notice how he never refers to any of the following:

Killorn
Johnston
Lundestrom
Strome
Harkins

As bottom 6 players, which they are by all accounts. Hell, Harkins and Johnston shouldn't even be in the league.

So Cronin keeps mixing up the lines then wonders why there is no chemistry? What a baboon

So is Fantilli.

If every once in a while you go against the consensus, you might be the smartest guy in the room. The problem is, PV has done it every year. It's starting more like throwing darts and less like knowing what he's doing.

I see why people question the mctavish pick with Eklund there for sure. To me, it isn’t a huge problem. Now Fantilli/Carlsson would be a huge problem if they got it wrong.

I think fantilli and carlsson were a lot closer…. To the point I didn’t feel like we were necessarily reaching.
 
I am not at all concerned about Leo's talent.

The only thing that concerns me is if he has concussion issues, which could easily derail his career

If Leo doesn't work out and Fantilli does, i guess they were close enough that it wouldn't like be some epic mistake. But still, scouts are supposed to be the experts and correctly make those calls based on whatever differences there are. Especially if we're going to continue anointing Madden and Co. as some great scouting team.

With Mctavish/EKlund, i'm more coming from the perspective of i don't think they'll be wildly different especially if we get a good coach in here - i actually think Mctavish can be better. Fantilli's floor seems higher than Leo's which makes it a lot more concerning/risky.
