As assistant coach or head coach, guys that played for him that had good NHL careers (as a stand-in for “development” for players he coached only in the NHL, I just limited them to being in their first couple seasons for the NHL teams when he coached them).

I stopped at around 20-21 because tbh my knowledge of current players isn’t great.

Anyway it’s not nothing but it’s nothing amazing for a guy coming up on 40 years as a coach.

I want him gone for developing Torres alone.

Many coaches haven't won with stacked teams. Obviously I'm not calling for a Carlyle return but the fact he even gets hate is beyond pathetic and comical. He likes a physical style hockey and players so of course our anti fighting fanbase hates him.

My response is only regarding your comment about him being the most successful coach, which IMO was mainly due to some really nice, stacked teams. I feel it's maybe less about his ability to coach. I have no problem with him aligning with Burke regarding "truculence," and was happy at the beginning of the season when we were looking like we were willing to body and hit more. That totally seems to have gone away these past few games.

We do have a little, somewhat. Quit going to games, or if you go show your displeasure (signs, booing, etc). Also, good old social media pages are decent sources of pressure from the fans. Teepee PV's house?

Do you think Verbeek will acquire "the right coach"? Verbeek's veteran acquisitions with the signing of Cronin and praising of Cronin's 59 point debut last year doesn't instill a whole lot of faith of finding someone good for the youths and the future.

Yes, absolutely. His whole reason why he was hired was to help develop the kids and he’s stunted them all. Bruce should be hired for 2-3 season since he gets the most out of his players and gets them to over perform until that becomes their regular play.

I hear you on being sympathetic to the human side of the game - but in this case the team has to honor the contract. He'd be relieved of the position but still receive his salary for the remainder of the agreement.

It's never as easy of a move to make when you're actually involved, compared to being a fan where it seems like a fairly easy decision at this point. Something that seems obvious to us, may be causing sleepless nights for PV and company. You're not wrong in pointing out that there's layers to the situation

You also likely didnt have a contract the employer would still have to pay out and also likely dont make millions. He'd be more than fine getting laid off.

I was on the fence when Eakins was let go, I felt he didn’t have the depth like Cronin has and players like Zegras and Terry had their best seasons under him, you could see the kids developing. The games were entertaining even if they got blown out some games , still a lot of them went to OT.

I’m really curious how Leo, Minty, and Zell would be doing under Eakins.

Don’t get me wrong Eakins was still a poor coach with little experience but I never thought in a million years they’d be scoring less goals now under Cronin with more depth and younger skill.

Next coach needs to be an experienced coach. May cost more to get one here but the Samueli’s can afford it.

I understand the sentiment, especially in an employer/employee format.

In professional sports coaches and players are contract hires. The players associations ensure that certain aspects of “employment” are followed for the players.

Coaching is not a single employer occupation. Nearly every coach has been fired at some point in their career.

As any independent contractor, in any industry, performance is the primary driver of continued employment. Every coach knows this going into this occupation.
