Should Bettman pull an Adam Silver and force a Brady Tkachuk trade to a major market?

With NBA ratings in a free-fall there's a tinfoil case that can be made in regards to the Luka Doncic trade.

Should Bettman do something similar with Brady Tkachuk? This tournament was a massive success from a marketing standpoint and the Tkachuk brothers were obviously a huge part of that. No offense meant to Sens fans here but 50% of Americans probably don't even know your city exists. Getting Tkachuk into a major market like Chicago/NY/Boston and striking while the iron's hot (now) could be one of multiple factors that helps the cap raise even more down the line, which in turn helps Ottawa in the future along with all teams. (Plus I'm sure a generous package would be put together)

Is it worth pulling off a shady move like this for the good of the league? A rising tide lifts all boats

Never understood the "Americans don't even know this exists" argument. I'm sure there are cities and entire states that some Americans don't even know exist in their own country.
Wow I had a great time watching this new exciting sport at the Olympics, can’t wait to tune in to watch my new favorite player play in league games for his team the Guangdong Tigers

Watch man on the street interviews where Americans are asked how many teeth humans have, how many letters are in the alphabet, the feature water freezes. Let them make sure they know how to tie their own shoes before asking them about Ottawa.

Hey no argument from me on that one, but good marketing requires you to know your audience. I don’t think it’s a secret the league is trying to grow the game in America and not Canada

I'd love to have Brady Tkachuk or Tim Stutzle on the Blues...but with a legitimately good trade that the Senators would rightfully accept only, if there is even any. You should be ashamed of yourself for even asking that question, and my disgust that anyone would even consider such a thing is immeasurable.

To actually address your point, I think the focus should be on promoting the stars better through social media campaigns and modern avenues used to reach audiences on platforms they spend their time on. People like TikTok, Youtube, and Twitch. Get clips of every big play on TikTok and Youtube shorts, do short form recap videos for Youtube of awesome where a team comes back from a multi goal deficit or a high scoring game that ended like 8-6 with multiple lead changes, games where MacKinnon scored a hat trick and lost against a two goal two assist performance from Kucherov.

This is a dinosaur league ran by a dinosaur like Bettman who just sits around hoping Sportscenter has a clip in their daily top 10.

lol, EA sports thread is further down.

If you want to outright tank small market franchise values, sure. The whole system is predicated on improving by acquiring cheap assets in the draft and being able to afford them as you start making the playoffs. The NHL is still a gate driven league so being a bottom feeder isn’t just embarrassing but financially destabilizing. If the NHL starts demanding small market teams start trading away their stars just as they more about to break through as playoff teams, then we’re admitting that the game is rigged and they can never be successful.

I know it's very fashionable for the entire world and especially Canadians to make dumb American jokes right now. But you need to be careful about this, because
1. It's not true. I'm sure someone will find some YouTube video to say that "show me how dumb Americans are", but seriously, most Americans are nice and intelligent people.
2. You are going to create enemies that you do not need. Not saying you need to kiss anyone's ass, but you guys are going out of your way to create enemies here (talking about the average American or American hockey fan, not public figures).
Just stop it.

Edit: Forgot to mention that this is a terrible idea.
