Malmös sportchef Björn Liljander bygger för säsongen 24/25. Enligt uppgifter till Expressen så är han överens med finländske backen, Lassi Thomson, som för närvarande spelar i Ottawas organisation. 23-årige Thomson var lagkapten i det finska JVM-laget 2020.

Would need to snatch one from another team or create a new one as only Wolves are independent, who they broke off from as Wolves want to prioritize competing instead of development.

Combine? As in 2 NHL teams affiliated with 1 AHL team? I don't think anybody would like that. Double the amount of callups for the AHL team to deal with, half the amount of prospects in the A for the NHL team.

Its gotta be better than no AHL affiliate, the Canes have somewhere to send their prospects and the recieving team's AHL affiliate could add talent to their roster. If the recieving team has a lackluster prospect pool and an AHL team that would benefit from adding a couple players, and the Canes agree they'll be frugal with callups. It would never happen, but in theory, wouldn't it be better than to not have an AHL affiliate?

It's a short term solution and you need the other NHL team to agree on it (like Carolina with Nashville actually when their affiliate opted out of the covid season) who, even if their prospects are "lackluster", wouldn't be too pleased in having to look for several of their prospects to be loaned elsewhere.

I didn't picture Rattie winning a scoring title but he was a very productive AHL player. Sylvegard comes out of nowhere for me.

Sylvegård ended last season in the top 10 playing for a bad team which he lead in scoring by 16 points, not too shocking. A weak year for the scoring title, however.
