Been like an hour or two since the game ended but I've finally calmed down a bit but I figured the closest game this reminded me of. Kovy's first game v Toronto with the late comeback and then Pando winning it in a comical fashion lol

@Devs3cups missed the gm. How you feeling, what I miss

@Nubmer6

Probably a top 3-5 funniest meme worthy game I can remember lol

He's been better than anyone could've expected. Elite shutdown D on an elite shutdown pair so far.
Not better than I expected! I posted here right after the trade saying just how great he was! I always thought he was a Top-4 defenseman in Montreal. Montreal has had some TERRIBLE teams and somehow he always kept the puck out of his net. Even when he didn't have the best games, the other teams just didn't score with him on the ice! I was so mad he was traded. But I'm happy he's found success here!

lol I mean did you think he’d be playing like an elite player because that’s what he’s been. I doubt you or anyone expected this much.

Paul Cotter is the prototype player that silently wins games. This kid finishes every check and made us hard to play against tonight. We need to find another Paul Cotter type.

Ummm sorry but Siegs is not a better skater than Dougie or Dillon. So I’m not sure how that makes sense.
Dillon isn’t even a terrible skater and is clearly a better skater than Siegenthaler

To be fair. Siegenthaler’s footwork and quickness in tighter areas might be better which makes a difference. But he is a not a better overall skater

yes he absolutely is. It isn't even close.

Go ask the Habs fans on the Montreal forum. I was begging for him to get more minutes his entire tenure and I was absolutely furious with the trade.

They're sick of me bringing him up, but I do it all the time cause I still hate the trade lol

Him and Guhle were the two defenseman on Montreal who I was confident would play well on Montreal.

That appears to say he's a net positive on the ice because he generates a ridiculous amount of offense.

He generates a bunch because he completely disregards defense, Similar to Jack in previous years. Idk if Jack has actually improved there but it sure seems like it. He doesn't seem to just be cheating for offense all the time anymore.

That third goal is a ton of vomit decisions. Why Luke was so deep in the corner when Jack was already there. He should've peeled back and provide support for Palat.

Why did Palat attack the puck carrier to turn a 3 on 2 to a breakaway. Should've held the middle to keep it a 2 on 1 potentially (may not even have been a dangerous chance at all), but it starts with Luke not taking care of the defensive side first.

And yet they both generate significantly more than they give up.

I don't care if they do it with lots of offense or by limiting chances against. As long as they win their minutes, which they do

Those of you following the saga of my GDTs know that my first one was thrown together because you lazy swine didn't have one up on Monday and the game was starting in two hours or so. Me being the heroic, caring, sainted, and humble paragon of virtue that I am I stepped up and put one together. Well, they won. Then, I was forced to create one for the game against the Habs. It was a bit uneven but they won again. Now, since I am so considerate, charming, handsome, magnificent, and humble, I am complying with tradition to create this GDT.

If you participated in the Habs GDT you probably remember that I was not prepared to make the GDT for today. I'm in Westchester staying with one of my brothers. I'm going to see David Gilmour tonight with all of my brothers and a couple of nephews and two of my boys. I've seen Roger Waters twice but for one reason or another I've never seen Mr. Gilmour live. Given his age and lack of passion for touring I think this is probably it for him. I am giddy as a schoolgirl about tonight. Below is a picture of him at MSG from a few days ago.

I promise to treat the arena like crap and say mean things about the Rangers while I am there. But I will be on cloud 9 (shout out to George) and won't care where he's playing so long as I am there.

Since I live down South I had to get onto a newfangled contraption called an "aero-plain" to fly up here to see the game. As old as I am I have to take a picture of my parking space at the local airport so when I get home I can find my car in the morass of the parking garage. When you pull into the parking garage at the airport there is a digital board that tells you how many open spots there are on a given level. Well, there was only one spot open in the covered sections. Plenty of parking on the top level but I prefer to protect the car from the sun and rain so I drove to the one open spot with protection from the elements. I parked and took the picture. And it was only then I realized that I was parked in section......

How fitting. Well, I have to sort out where we are going to eat lunch and what I will see with my boys before the concert since they are not from the area and the city is still an exciting place for them made more fun by all of mom and dad's landmarks in the area. So I hope all of you and the Devils shine on this evening (sadly he isn't playing that on this tour but the setlist is quite good).

The lineups are below.

NJ Devils

Palot Jack Bratt
Cotter Haula Noesen
Meier Hischier Mercer
McD Dowling Tatar

Siegs Kovy
Luke Pesce
Dillon Dr. Evil

I'll guess they come back with Markstrom. Not sure if I will be able to edit this later so you may have to imagine it says Allen.

NYI

Lee Horvat Pageau
Tsyplakov Nelson Palms
Engvall Cizikas Holmstrom
Martin MacLean Wahlstrom

Mayfield Pulock
George Dobson
Cholowski Hutton

I'll guess Sorokin since Varlamov played their last game

NYI line combos from Daily Faceoff so if they are wrong blame them.

The Devils are coming off a win against the Habs where Jack and Bratt imposed their will on the game. Marky wants that first goal back but did make some big saves and was steady enough. The rest of the team had their moments but they have plenty of room to improve. The Isles have apparently won their last two. Sorokin is playing very well so it might be a long night. Surprisingly the Isles special teams are struggling. Their PP is only at 13% while their PK is only at 67%. The PP I can see but I'm shocked a Lou team would ever have a PK so low. Lou must be rolling in his grave. Of course once the sun sets he will rise from it and go watch his team.

OK, I need an iced tea and start figuring out the day. Let's Go Devils!!
And after all that....

...you get to make a GDT all over again. :sarcasm:

when he’s on the ice, the team gives up goals and chances against at roughly the teams average rate. He’s not an asset defensively, but he’s not killing you out there.

This is xGoals for defensive pairs with 120 minutes played.
IMG_0240.jpeg

It’s not a good list to be near the top of and for 9 mil I want Hamilton to win the possession battle more.

The same names on the top of that list are the mostly the ones on the top below. It’s not easy to outscore loosey goosey defense. (Also lol Soucy-Myers and OTT needs to get Sanderson a partner who isn’t a corpse.)

Dougie’s playing the worst defense of his career, wanting better results there isn’t wrong.

Big win. They came back and won it as a team which is good to see. Powerplay gets a goal tonight going 1 for 2 and they managed to not take 1 penalty all game. There was some positives to take from this game despite it being a win they pulled from their ass. Jack & Dougie have picked up their game big time which is great.

Luke and Pesce need to start putting up some numbers on offense. They seem to work well together and we can clearly see Luke's defensive game has made some noticeable improvement. Pesce was definitely a good signing , he passes the eye test for being solid in his own end. We are great in that regard when it comes to him, Siegenthaler, Kovacevic & Dillon. Just need to see Luke's get his offensive game going and not keep having these decent games where he and Pesce manage to go pointless and be a -1 or 0.

I don’t mind Dowling and Tatar is fine, but MacDermid needs to go back to being a frequent healthy scratch.

Need Bastian to come back asap or them realizing Halonen is a better idea than MacDermid being a bozo out there. And depending on Lazar's status, getting a 4C in here asap would help too. Dowling is fine but would like to get better there. Tatar is very good for the 4th line, lol.

Since @My3Sons will be traveling tomorrow I made a unique team line-up graphic for his next GDT (cause we’re gonna win tonight baby!).

And, no, I’m not a professional graphic designer in case anyone was wondering.
I have a couple of good local names for you in the next time.
