It did open, but I think calling it wide is an overstatement.

Plus Hughes was already quick touching the puck, I'd have to rewatch see how realistic it would have been to slide it 5 hole.

Sorokin, who bit on the move, did a great job holding the post, Hughes clearly thought that with Sorokin's slide to the middle of the net the post would be open, but it wasn't. Tip the hat.
