anyone else feeling some relief for the first time in ages?
I know there are more changes to make but this one felt good and much needed
It's the bare minimum they could have done.

So it is a start, and I feel you. But the changes needed are much deeper than just a coach, 50 million on forwards that can't produce more than 2 goals a game in the playoffs simply cannot exist anymore.

So we shall see what the plan truly is, I'd like a defensive approach, a take no prisoners ironclad system.

The best the Leafs ever looked was that first year against Washington. The sky looked the limit and everyone gave it their all. We dont care if rich players hate their coach anymore.
Yup and the next two years they fell on their face in game 7 against Boston. Sounds familiar.

Obviously has an absolutely shitty past with the Chicago stuff

But Quenneville would win us games

Rod the bod would be great if he wants to finally get paid. His system isn't perfect in the playoffs as well however

In terms of Marner wouldn't be shocked if we traded him to Vegas

True yeah I agree with most of the above

I guess the only thing for Q is why does he want to coach really?

He has his legacy, his cups, his money

He is 65 years of age now. If he wants to improve his image then maybe volunteer and try and help organizations to improve player safety for mens/womens hockey at junior level

He should be a coach but at 65 does he want to still work and take on that pressure?
He 100% would want to coach. The guy has the competitive itch

I remember there being a clip in one of those HBO series of him saying that no one loves winning more than him. And it was not just smoke, you could see how much every win fired him up.

We need that level of competitiveness and standard for excellence. Not to dig up the grave or stir the pot, but the very reason Q was cancelled in the first place was because he strategically buried an incident in his pursuit of winning it all. As poor of a judgement that may have been, it kind of shows the lengths he was willing to go to win.

Of course he will have to exercise better judgment in the future. I am not saying him taking no action in that situation was a positive. But one thing that is abundantly clear to me is that he stops at nothing to win. We need that mindset instilled in our players.

And like I've said before. Q has paid a price for his bad decisions. In my opinion, he deserves a second chance. But that is just me

Because nothing he has said at any point points to that idea. He just said in his end of season presser that he wants to be here.

I know a lot of people want him gone but he holds all the cards.
Marner can't come out to the press and say he would accept a trade. That lowers his bargaining power.

If Marner wants the 8th year (Very important in his age 35 year) he needs to work with management.

ANYTHING will be an improvement over Bozo the Keefe. Even an inanimate object.

Absolute WORST coach in the history of hockey. I can’t wait to see him and Kyle Dumbass destroy the Pittsburgh franchise.
Be careful its Toronto. Never say anything is better they might hire Carlton.

Brind'Amour is a UFA coach... when do coach contracts actually end?
he had an offer, and it was pulled, but, he likely wants to stay there, but, he's never had the firepower the Leafs have, and we can sign some of his UFA d-men, they have 3 and i'd target them all. and hope for 1-2 of them at least

Babcock couldn't take us beyond round 1 either. Also I don't want some 60 year old creep asking to look into my phone and see my photos, but that's just me.
Zero excuse for what keefe did with this team. He was literally handed a gift and managed to make it fail.

Thankfully.. The Dubas chapter is officially over. What a f***ing disaster. We tried to tell y'all but you wanted nice guys

Safe space culture literally wasted our AM years. Lol
Babcock achieved what Keefe did with a rookie am. Then Dubas and keefe managed to miss the playoffs. Lol
Babcock had Matthews/Marner/Nylander in year 3 plus John Tavares in his prime and couldn't close out a 3-2 series lead over Boston. He played Matthews less than 20 minutes in a game 7. Quenneville had Chicago in the WCF by year 2 of Toews and Kane's careers, and then they added Marian Hossa and won a cup in year 3. Aim higher.

Only in your imagination is keefe a better coach than Babcock. You're arguing something you can't win.

You wanted your nice guy.. And it was a train wreck. So grab a seat and let ppl that know stuff about hockey have a run at it. Lol

He was available last year when Tre was looking at options and chose to extend Keefe. Berube makes too much sense. Seems to be a somebody who has the same beliefs as Tre.
Tre could be gone next year. We want the best coach money can buy, whether he gets along with Tre isnt the issue. Tre s job is to hire the very best period. This is Toronto, money isnt the issue.

it will be less than 2 hours before Keefe is hired as Pens farm team coach. They fired their guy this past week. Keefe will be up with the Pens by Mid Oct after Sullivan starts the season 3-9.

Dubas can't be far away from his boy

Scoring goals has been our Achilles Heel since forever.

PP has been in the gutter and truly an embarrassment year over year. They have had different pp coaches and one can make these guys click in the playoffs.

They added sandpaper last season and still we got the same results.

Sheldon had to go defacto.

New coach and new assistants are obviously need.

BUT...if they run it back with the same player personnel....they are out to lunch and delusional.

Quenneville as HC and Babcock and Keenan as assistants FTW.

So, Shanny is going to survive?
Looks like it, unless they have a change of heard today. He's got one more year left on his contract apparently.

Maybe they let him ride it out and then drop the president's role all together? How many years does Masai have left on his? Does TFC have a president? When you own multiple professional franchises, it'll be hard to justify different operating structures.

Having a CEO who is involved in the sports teams, kinda makes the president role redundant imo.

He should be gone imo. Did a good job with the initial buildout, but massive failure in progression for the franchise (as far as on-ice results go).

Yeah I agree with you but the core for all have the ability to say no. So...it's a very real possibility

Keefe is a nhl coach, he's not going to the AHL.
