I'd like to see all of the Sharks ownership group get together with their friends in a big room with a big HD tv and watch an entire game without distraction. Then poll all of the people in attendance to see how excited they were watching this team play. I am so glad I am not spending a small fortune to watch this pathetic boring ass team. Remember when fans would go crazy for a goal? Doesn't happen much anymore.

They play boring hockey due to a horrible system that is to prevent goals..not score them. The team also passes when they should shoot and shoots when they should pass. Awful.

Sharks are just slower than most teams and have a lot more grinders than most. A lot of teams have started to use players who can score in their bottom-6 and teach them how to play roles. Sharks are just filled with plugs and grinders outside of the top-4.

Guys like Kyle Clifford and Daniel Winnik are providing secondary scoring for their respective teams. I would classify them as grinders.

Yup. Not a whole lot of skill on this team.

What the **** does that even mean? 75-80 and 30 goals still happens, even in suckass seasons like the last one. If he tied that to the recognition of those players that grind it out sucks baboon balls, then that explains a lot. The players know what needs to happen.

If anyone is deliberately trying to put them in a system that squashes that, that explains why we are struggling in many areas we traditionally do not. Joe and Patty are still the same players they have been for the past couple of years. If someone thinks they are the problem they are flat out wrong, and if the coaches thing they are the problem, they are ****ing up.

Holy christ I hope not. Jumbo is on a 77 point pace even in this dud of a season. Patty is on a 41 goal pace, and logan is on a 38 goal pace. No one can say the top performers are not performing up to snuff.

Yeah those two sure are the problem. :shakehead

Good points. Team has terrible depth (other than some recent production from Gomez), no grit in the bottom core other than Desi and Wingels, a questionable coaching system and three of our top 6 vastly underperforming. That is where all the problems are. Definitely not in goal or our top three.

They're also playing on lines with guys who have offensive ability. Winnik and Clifford would struggle on lines with Desi, Burish etc.

I feel terrible. I sarcastically said earlier in the thread (before the game) that I wanted a shutout for Backstrom for my fantasy team. And he got it. I never root for my fantasy team over my real team. It just so happened that Backstrom shut out my co-favorite hockey team. Again, I feel really bad.

Since I have 0 shutouts this week in that H2H matchup, I feel terrible too.

Wait, so the Wild actually think they robbed us? That's ****ing laughable.

Heatley was a ****ing cap-dump. He's a -12 and barely has .5 PPG, a black-hole of possession (just looking at his With/Without numbers are super funny, he's Edmonton bad when he's not playing with Parise and Koivu, and he brings them way down) and is making $7.5M for this and next year. Havlat's much cheaper, faster, and just a better player.

Setoguchi is shooting 17%. I'm sure that's going to last. He's been a healthy scratch and played on the Wild's 4th line.

The overrating of prospects continues.

And somehow we got fleeced giving up a third for a useful bottom-six player? Jeez, I used to like Wild fans, but they've become amazingly cocky after the Parise-Suter thing.

EDIT: Forgot, the Wild don't believe in regression.

We all know Setoguchi will fade..it was his m.o. here. And about the fans..i guess thats what happens when you land free agents and nab some overrated prospects. The cup is on the way!

I had to work today so I recorded the game. When I get home, I'm tired and figure might as well watch the recording and hopefully the Sharks win. They didn't even get a goal. They look lazy, no urgency, and again, they are a really boring team to watch.

I really hate how the western conference is set up this year. It's in a way where from 3rd to 11th (Or something like that), things can change every day and the Sharks could be a playoff team, or be on the outside looking in. Does this team look like a playoff team? Hell no. They look like a team that's tired, doesn't know how to score, too slow, and they have a system that feels like it's RE-gressing (Got that T-Mac, your Pro-Cess failed), with each passing game.

Well, at least Baseball season starts soon. This last month is going to be exciting for Hockey, just not on the Sharks end of it. Forget making the playoffs. What about making a noise in the draft instead of getting like the 15th pick only to trade it and make Draft weekend irrelevant like they've done for most seasons now.

Seriously, the trades were even at worst. Though I guess after the Cam Barker debacle, any trade that doesn't blow up in their face is considered a win. :sarcasm:

If Coyle and Phillips both turn into legit (read: not Seto-caliber) top-6 forwards, then the Wild might have an edge. But Phillips looks more like a 3rd liner, I highly doubt Coyle is a prolific scorer, and Seto is Seto, streaky, inconsistent, and one-dimensional.

I always find it funny that Wild fans include the 28th overall as part of the deal, but forget that we got 37th overall back with Burns. If we'd kept the pick, we would clearly win the deal easily because it's more like Coyle+Seto for Burns. It's just that pissed away the pick, which was a completely inconsequential move when evaluating this trade, that it doesn't look as good as it was.

Again, I hate evaluating trades based on who was picked with that pick,or what was done with that pick. It is just like Bruins's fans when they say that they used the money they saved on Thornton to sign Chara. The trade gave you the cap space. The trade didn't give you the foresight to sign Chara. There is no guarantee that the Sharks would have drafted the player that was drafted at that position...

As a Wild STH, you got snookered on the Burns trade. Way, way overpaid. He's worth $4MM tops. The Boyle replacement now playing offense? Says something about Burns' defensive deficiencies. Everyone gets lulled into his offensive upside, but on the back-end, he is horrible. Always has been.

I doubt Wilson wants anything to do with Fletcher. He has lost out every time. Spin-it all you want, but Heatley, Seto, Coyle and Phillips (though he has shown me nothing yet), are a better deal than Burns & Havlat. BTW, Barker was a disaster, but it was a deal that had to be done at the time due to Kim Johannson's contract. Losing Nick Leddy? He can't play defense. Think about it, Douglas Murray have Norris-worthy offensive production on the CBH. Leddy would be a third pairing d-man on the Wild, possibly a 2nd pairing if with Gilbert.

How is Burns terrible defensively? At least statistically, this does not at all seem to be the case.

Burns is playing offense for many reasons, none of which are his defensive deficiencies. Sharks are loaded on the back-end, and Tmac wanted to give Burns plenty of opportunity to skate it out. Then, he started producing on the top-line, and stayed there.

Yes, we know. Minnesota never loses a trade.

 jeez I guess we better give the cup to the Wild. Seto is on his yearly streak that makes everyone think hes a legit top 6 forward. (Sharks fans know it all too well) Heatley is diminishing and can hardly skate anymore. Coyle is one of the most overrated prospects in hockey who quit on his college team and padded stats against weaker comp in the Q. See I can play that game too.
