Pre-Game Talk: Sharks vs Cats

Rodrigue should be starting but not surprised by this. Even going back to the Smith and Koskinen days, one guy would be driven into the ground when theres an injury.

Rodrigue was third stringer and backup in the COVID season, and had played in the AHL since.

He's paid his dues, give him a cup of coffee, so he can see where his game needs to go, and we can see what we currently have. If we're going to develop talent in house, you have to take small chances on them once in a while

I'm guessing Knob will be playing Rodrigue once the Oilers are mathematically in the playoffs. That kind of falls on the Anaheim game if the Oilers beat Kings and Sharks

Not the Oiler way. They would rather lose him, see him doing well elsewhere, bring in an older vet and watch him fail here.

Yes. The Kings are 28-4-4 at home and 14-19-5 on the road.

A better record could also mean home ice in some later rounds if we catch Colorado/stay on pace with Eastern teams not called Capitals.

The Kings are also just 2-11 at home in the playoffs since their last Cup win. That said I agree with you, Edmonton should at least try to get home ice

To be fair, how often do goalies not taken in the first round actually take over the starters net for the team that drafted them.

It's quite rare that later goaltending picks peak before joining at least their 2nd or 3rd team.

It's partially why I don't understand the team being so concerned about using late picks on goalies recently when they have minimal draft picks to start with and don't have a particularly successful history of developing goalies with their goaltending coaches.

I was being facetious on how oilers treat younger players- but to your point- the point you make applies to all players taken after the first round-

Hmmm so we face..

Non playoff team SJS
Playoff team LAK
Non playoff team ANA
Playoff team STL
Non playoff team SJS

And we are running our #2 and #3 goalies. This seems like a question for a child's homework. Which games would you use your #2 and which games would you use your #3?

They are seriously going to give Pickard five straight starts? Rest him for LA, its the obvious choice.

The weird obsession this board has with cats needs to go away. It’s played out. Let’s pick a different animal out of the hat and run with that for a few years.
